Random crashes on rather high end PC
Not sure why, but game like to crash with no error message. Is it normal? Is there any fix? Right now it started after 2,5 hours of gaming. To suprise, this is first game since 2 years that crashed for me - first was Cyberpunk.

Ryzen 5800X, RX 6800 XT, 32GB RAM, Windows 10

I guess it's not happening to just me. I have W11 (set FC4 to W8.1 compatibility), 16GB, i3-12100F with an RX 6600 and it randomly crashes. The game is old and buggy. All Far Crys are buggy in my opinion. I just recently played FC3/4/5/6 and experienced randomized instant crashes with 4... I had the files verified and nothing is wrong with my computer hardware, it's the game. Same thing, it very randomly crashes without warning when playing for quite some time and happens in different parts of the map, etc.

I'm just thankful it cloud saves when it randomly crashes to ease the annoyance. haha

Try setting FarCry4.exe process affinity to only 4 cores, and not using Nvidia tech in the game's Video Quality settings. That latter part screws with the Map Editor's stability at least, not sure if it also applies to the game.

Those and some other tips are on my Far Cry page[steve.farcry.eu].

i can confirm do not use the Nvidia game works settings on any AMD GPU or even an Nvidia one

try this

resolution 2560 X 1440
vsync - off
Quality settings
motion blur off - not a fan of it ..
Textures - Ultra
Shadows -Ultra <--- (Nvidia PCSS Soft Shadows will kill your FPS )
Post FX -Ultra
Geometry - Ultra
Vegetation- Ultra
Environment - Ultra
Water - Ultra
Ambient Occusion setting is SSBC
Antialising settings is SMAA
God rays - off- not a fan of how it looks (can make the game unstable..even on Titan X and GTX 980 Ti cards )
Fur - on
Trees relief -on
in Advanced settings
Triple buffering - off
Vsync mode - Normal

in Nvidia control panel, i made these changes
Anisotropic Filtering = 16 X

Set Power Management Mode = Prefer Max performance

Again ,game looks fine to me and plays stutter free on my system with zero crashes

i use a quad core intel 7600 K over clocked on all 4 cores to 4.4 GHZ
via auto tune in my asus bios on a z series motherboard

and a evga RTX 3060 XC black edition 12 gig GPU

the nvidia game works settings were a one time thing and Nvidia dropped the ball on them years ago in the drivers

i documented it in the far cry 4 troubleshooting tips section over 5 years ago
no other far cry game has used them since

they only make the game unstable

That's setting I use, but ultra shadows are also Nvidia !? That explain strange grain I got on mid range shadows. I'll try to lower them this weekend. So far had no crash.

This game is so buggy tho... Can't change/turn off radio in cars, Z and Y keys are replaced. Smaller issues are all over the place, but I'll try to complete this game in this month. Month - because there is no way to skip boring cutscenes. Even with mod.

Ok, no crashes. I was using ULTRA shadows, but not nvidia ones - these are called soft shadows. These are also grainy, but i guess thats how this game make transistions between low and high quality shadows, once player becomes closer.

Currently having trouble getting passed the first mission due to crashes on a pretty beefy system.

Have windows 8 compatibility checked
And video settings applied
