Vezi statistici:
Antialiasing (other than MSAA) caps my fps at 30?
Hello,

I run my Far Cry 4 on max settings and it runs perfectly smooth at 60 fps and 4K resolution. But when I turn on Antialiasing (except for MSAA which works fine) it immediately drops down to 30fps and seems to be locked there. What could cause this issue?

Thanks for reading!

dunno as you provided zero system specs.... runs fine here

Intel Kaby Lake I5 7600K @ 4.4 GHZ <(via asus auto tune in my bios )

ASUS ROG STRIX z270 H GAMING motherboard
16 gig of Crucial Ballistic Sport DDR 4 2400 ram\ 4 X 4 gig dimms <(in dual channel mode)
Gigabyte Windforce 2 GTX 1060 OC model \ 6 gig vid card

2 TB Toshiba HDD storage drive \ 7200 RPM 64 meg cache
Thermaltake 500 WATT 80+ power supply
Seiki LC40G81 40" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

fc 4

my in Game settings are set to Custom
resolution 1920 X 1080
vsync - on
Quality settings
motion blur off - not a fan of it ..
Textures - Ultra
Shadows -Ultra <--- (Nvidia PCSS Soft Shadows will kill your FPS )
Post FX -Ultra
Geometry - Ultra
Vegetation- Ultra
Environment - Ultra
Water - Ultra
Ambient Occusion setting is SSBC
Antialising settings is SMAA
God rays - off- not a fan of how it looks (can make the game unstable..even on Titan X and GTX 980 Ti cards )
Fur - on
Trees relief -on
in Advanced settings
Triple buffering - off
Vsync mode - Normal

in Nvidia control panel, i made these changes
Anisotropic Filtering = 16 X
Max Pre Rendered Frames = 1
Set Power Management Mode = Prefer Max performance

game looks fine to me and plays stutter free on my system with zero crashes

i did install Razer Cortex game booster version 7.0 as it does seem to help with this game

*(note newer versions of cortex do not seen to work as well , at least for me so i stick with 7.0 )

Hello, thanks for the answer.

System specs:

GTX 1080TI with a slight overclock

I7-3770k (overclocked to 4.4ghz)

16GB DDR3 RAM (also overclocked)

2TB Seagate barracuda internal HDD which Ubisoft and the game are installed on, and I doubt that the rest of my setup is relevant. Of course I have a 4K monitor as well, as I already mentioned.

Just to clarify: I don't have any issues with my fps. It runs perfectly fine on max settings-as long as I turn Antialiasing off or leave it on MSAA. When I change it to another option than off or MSAA though the fps weirdly seems to cap at 30. I doubt it's because it needs more ressources. How could one antialiasing-option cut my fps in half?

checke in Nvidia control panel your v sync setting .. also try an older Nvidia driver if your on the latest ones

the new ones have several issues all the time
