To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator
to launch Steam
then go to your Steam games library
right clik on your game (fc 3 4 whatever)
select properties
select local files
select verify Integrity of game cache
it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems
yes verify a lot of times.
Also run the game and Uplay as admin and in compatibility mode.
However, still stucked at that mission.
The previous time it happened and crashed is when trying to kill Yuma lieutnant but I found a fix through google. This time cant find any solution online
especially any Nvidia game works settings like soft shadows
no crashes here with my ASUS Strix GTX 960 or Gigabyte 1060 in that level
or my old AMD cards i used to run an AMD HD 7750 1 gig card (sapphire ) when the game first shipped then used an ASUS AMD R 9 270 X ............2 gig card
but again you may need to lower some settings .. dunno it all depends on your GPU and Drivers ..the game if ya set some settings too high can run unstable
check for crash logs too in windows ..in case its a memory issue ..yes ram can be bad or unstable ..this game will push a system if ya crank stuff up
check also to see if your GPU or CPU is getting too hot
only time i had crashing in this game..is when my 6 yr old PSU decided to flake out ..other games ran fine ..some did not .. replaced my PSU in my old system the one with the GTX 960 .. the problem went away once i installed a new PSU ..was not getting enuff voltage to the +12 v rail to feed the GPU
got 6 yrs out of that old power supply it was due to fail .. only had a 3 yr warranty when i bought it in 2009..it failed in 2015
Radeon RX 580 Armor 8gb OC
I never adjust farcry 4 settings just let it auto customise as default.
Did not experience any crashes from other games such as witcher 3 , gta 5 , AC origin and monster hunter world though even in very high or ultra settings.
Not sure why only farcry 4 crashes my desktop so many times that i had to on off the switch over and over again.
you may need an older driver for a game this old , far cry 4 shipped in 2014 ..not 2019
and AMD driver support was always a lil off if ya ask me with this game ...
and make sure your AMD rx 580 getting enough power from your PSU again check your windows crash logs
DX diag should show ya what made the game crash
and again lower your settings remember shadows is where to start
then lower environment and never use Nvidia game works settings on an AMD gpu
dunno i do not own your system so i can't trouble shoot it from my desk
Thanks for the reply. I will try again by lowering the settings. It just weird cause those crashes to black screen happen at the exact starting of the cutscene.
If all else fail, maybe will uninstall the game lol. Anyway farcry 4 is still buggy even till now right?
even on my AMD cards the game never crashed ..it just never ran great ..or as good as on my Nvidia based systems
heck even on my old Dell dimension E 520 system the game never crashed
and that was an old as dirt system .... i bought that PC back in 2007
my Dell e 520 has
an Intel Q 6600 2.4 ghz CPU
8 gig of Kingston DDR 2 ram 800 mghz 4 .... 2 gig dimms
AMD HD 7750 sapphire 1 gig vid card
old creative labs soundblaster sound card ( sb live 24 bit card )
Win 7 ultimate operating system and also ran it with win 10 Pro
2 WD black edition 500 gig sata drives
so its not the game ..its drivers
still have that system ..and yep the game still runs on it in 720 P with medium settings
my current build is
Intel Kaby Lake I5 7600K @ 4.4 GHZ <(via asus auto tune in my bios )
Cooler Master 212 Hyper evo \ 120 MM RED led fan
ASUS ROG STRIX z270 H GAMING motherboard
16 gig of Crucial Ballistic Sport DDR 4 2400 ram\ 4 X 4 gig dimms <(in dual channel mode)
Gigabyte Windforce 2 GTX 1060 OC model \ 6 gig vid card
500 gig Samsung 840 EVO SSD \ boot drive
2 TB Toshiba HDD storage drive \ 7200 RPM 64 meg cache

my in Game settings are set to Custom

Trees relief -on
in Advanced settings
Triple buffering - off
Vsync mode - Normal
in Nvidia control panel, i made these changes
Anisotropic Filtering = 16 X
Max Pre Rendered Frames = 1
Set Power Management Mode = Prefer Max performance
game looks fine to me and plays stutter free on my system with zero crashes
i did install Razer Cortex game booster version 7.0 as it does seem to help with this game
http://www.filehorse.com/download-game-booster/old-versions/
*(note newer versions of cortex do not seen to work as well , at least for me so i stick with 7.0 )
Thanks for the advice.
Manage to clear the quest by setting every graphics quality to low and off everything.
Just need to finish the quest and then you can reset back to your default display settings.
