Uplay DLC with Steam game
A while back I bought Far Cry 4 on a Steam sale. Once I finished the game I looked for the Season Pass on a few places, and found that the Season Pass was cheap to buy on G2A, and the Uplay code was even cheaper than the Steam code. I took the risk in buying the Uplay code even though the game was bought on Steam, since my Uplay account is linked with my Steam account anyway and I didn't think it would matter.

After buying the code and activating it on Uplay I noticed that all the DLCs popped up as notifications on Uplay, including Valley of the Yetis, Escape from Durgesh Prison and the others. However, in game I can only find the smaller DLC-packs (the missions, weapons etc), and not the bigger ones (Valley, Escape).

Did I ♥♥♥♥ everything up when I bought the Uplay code, and is there a way for me to fix this without buying the Season Pass all over again? As far as I know I can't see which DLC's I have activated on Uplay.

sorry man you should have checked the tips section Pinned to the top of the forums

that info has been posted there for over a yr

if you buy your base game on steam

Steam provides all your game files

Steam does not provide game files for anything you did not buy on steam

to use the upl;ay version of the DLC you MUST OWN the Uplay only version of the title

here = WHY

steam saves your games saves as well as the game files to a differing directory then the Uplay only version does

steam installs your game files to a steam directory

the uplay only version installs the game to a differnt directory ..and

steam goes even further to LOCK you into only buyin the season pass or DLC on steam (if ya buy the base game on steam )

as the game save go to a differnt folder

each save consists of 4 small files
1.save
1.save.upload
2.save
2.save.upload

with the steam version of the game, saves your game to

C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856 < ----

the Uplay only version they go in
C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 420 <---

so yea sorry if ya bought your base game on steam ..thats where you need to buy your overpriced DLC from

Please be sure that you purchase the content through steam if the game client itself was from steam. Steam has different methods of handling DLC and updates. Steam and Ubisoft DLC versions are not interchangeable and may not work together. I would contact the vendor regarding a possible refund or exchange for the steam version of the DLC.

again steam will unlock some of the DLC since a lil but was already in your game .. like the weapons and such (they were unlocked for fc 4 gold buyres by cd key )

but no you cant get VOY since your game version does not match up to the correct install folder ..to add to your installed packed file set .... plus steam does not provide any updates to games you did not buy on steam

example # 1

i own COD modern warefare 1 on DVD that game did not use steam at all

so no steam does not see i own the game , nor will it provide patches and updates for it

your issue is not a uplay problem .. but a steam issue ..since steam made the changes to the install and save folders

to force users to only buy overpriced DLC ON steam , if thats where your base game came from

if ya look on origins site they also state at the bottom of the page for the far cry season pass .. that it will not work with the Steam version of the far cry 4 base game

since they sell the uplay only version that will work .. and install to the proper folders ) https://www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/far-cry/far-cry-4/expansion/far-cry-4-season-pass

IMPORTANT NOTE: FAR CRY 4® SEASON PASS PURCHASED THROUGH ORIGIN WILL NOT WORK WITH BASE FAR CRY 4® GAME VERSIONS PURCHASED THROUGH STEAM.

and steam also has a warning on the stroe page here

it clearly says

Downloadable Content
This content requires the base game Far Cry® 4 on Steam in order to play.

see how it says ON steam ...

sorry yes your situation is unfortunate ..but from now on just buy a uplay only version of Ubi games ..all steam does is add more DRM and keep the price higher

I see... Thanks for your good answer. I have learned my lesson and will not do the same mistake again. Guess I will buy the codes for the Steam DLCs.

i had the same experience with DLC from uplay not working with steam version. but as the steam version has the feature called Uplay activation, it sounds like its possible to install the game from uplay, and benefit from the DLC you buy from Uplay. and the next thing is that Uplay should at least do some check to make sure that you don't buy DLC for a game that you don't own, with that i mean a steam version and uplay version have two different IDs. it should also be possible for Uplay to determine that you have the Steam version and the DLC will not work. This should never be the customers fault, and should not be something you need to find out by searching all kind of forums before you decide to buy a product.

It definitely should not be the customers fault. The ubi store should not be letting people buy the season pass if they don't own the base game already on uplay.

dude i own call of Duty Modern warfare one DVD NON steam version .. NO i cant get free patches from steam .. even if i add it as a NON steam game

VALVE is the one who changed the install file locations as well as the save file locations

NOT Ubisoft ..

with the steam version of the game, saves your game to

C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856

the Uplay only version they go in
C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 420

thats why you can not mix and match the DLC

(as Ubi has the DLC and games on many many other sites then just steam )

valve wanted it that way on many Ubi games and yep they got it like that
so they can charge more and LOCK you into only buying DLC on steam

Ubisoft has had both the game and its DLC on sale wayyy more times then steam has since 2014 when it shipped and at lower prices too as have many other Ubisoft partner sites

so get smart .. from now on ..........only buy Uplay only copies of Ubisoft games if you plan on buying less expensive DLC and games ..cuz steam is gonna keep doing this ..that extra cash they earn goes into valves bank account ..and they do not even make any good games anymore ..just rehash the CS engine

and if ya hate Uplay guess what its here to stay ....as its the main digital distrubution platform used on all Ubisoft developed titles

it beats them losing up to 30 % per game sold ..and yep people thats what valve can charge to deliver games over steam from a publisher
