hahah. if i was on xbone. im on pc..
if none of that helps play...with a KB + mouse
and no the x box ome via bluetooth may not work as that came out AFTER the game shipped
and your OS counts as well as your drivers ..will it work ..dunno ?
my old logtech game pad works fine . but i would choose not to use a game pad for an FPS game
All other games it works just like it should, o well, also see they aint fixed the random crashing with txaa 4 either...good 'ol Ubi
they did include the supported ones in FC primal .. but never for FC 4 read me files
i think FC 4 used an older less tested version of the same engine
here is what the read me says for FC primal

vs supported game pads for FC 4
Supported gamepads: Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller, Microsoft Xbox One Controller, Sony Playstation 4 Controller
So they do mention the xbone controller, guess it just needs a. ** beside it noting only when connected wired. Maybe i can find a lil 3ft cable that i can pack with me.
I have to assume the list cited doesn't distinguish between XBox One and XBox One-S Controllers...the One-S ones are the only ones (besides OP's elite and I could argue it's a "one-s" controller too) with native wireless capability via bluetooth. This is an infuriating issue. I'm trying to figure out if I can use something like Pinnacle Game Profiler to make it work. Carpal tunnel makes keyboards and mouse a real issue for me to use.
I just re-installed it tonight, as I now have one of those customized 90$ X1 controllers from designlab... and it won't work. Same issue, the buttons are the d-pad, and the bumpers are start/select...
I was all stoked to play through this again, but what a headache. I spent the last 45 ****ing minutes trying to google the answer, and FINALLY found this...
Guess I have to dig out the long-cord wireless dongle adapter, and my old 360 controller just to play THIS game out the hundreds that work with my new one...
1. Open steam
2. Go to settings
3. Click on controller, then click general controller settings
4. Tick xbox configuration support and also tick generic gamepad configuration support
5. Connect wireless controller, go to your games and click Far Cry 4
6. To the right hand side of steam games list, under links, click on controller configuration(won't show if controller isn't connected first)
7. Click browse configs and choose CONTROLLER ROSHO then click apply configuration. GOOD TO GO
