TA on Windows 7

Can't get TA to run on Win 7. Tried the compatability modes but no luck. Friend of mine has Win 10 and got it working using compat' mode XP sp3. Can anyone help?

TA certainly should work on Win7 Home Premium both 32bit and 64bit (I have 64bit) versions. Try installing the 3.9.02b patch. Also you have to be VERY SPECIFIC on what happens and on your install and specs. Helpers need to know:

1. WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS

ie. does the screen visit black or launch fails etc

2. WHAT IS YOUR INSTALL

ie. Steam only, or 3.9.02b or some other

3. SPECS

exact Windows version, GFORCE or RADEON, with new or old DRIVERS, and install of TA.


Only then you can even expect help.


1. update windows
2. update Graphics Drivers
3. Update directX
4. Update TA

One possibility is that you might be lacking DirectPlay. It's a very deprecated API that used to be part of DirectX. Try re-installing DirectX on its own to make sure you have all versions of it on your system. You don't need to download anything. Just run the installer already downloaded with TA:

\Steam\steamapps\common\Total Annihilation\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe
