Tried hamachie? Might be doing some tests with a friend later tonight.

Tested, Hamachie works, just got a game running in short order

Ok, we have now managed to where I can see each other's game but when I click join It doesn't connect.
Download a program called Game Ranger www.gameranger.com - for some stupid reason the people who re-released this on Steam didn't update the game to use Steamworks multiplayer so you have to use this external program. Game Ranger works fine though :)

It is a bit confusing at first, but if you learn port forwarding, it is really helpful with IP connection games.
This website has a step by step guide. If any ads, just X them at the corner.
-Pick your router if it's on the list (it usually is).
-Pick Total Annihilation.
-Read. Please don't be lazy, it's just that one page. It should even result in less lag than using hamachi & similars.

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

It 's easy once you learn the process because there's nothing different but the numbers you enter if you play a whole different game when you want to use this (like, say, Sins of a Solar Empire or Terraria.)

I'm lazy. Is there another way? I am also running on 3 hrs of sleep Just spent a good two hours trying to get this to just connect and it wont. losing paitence and getting frustrated. Not quite understanding why it just wont connect. We can see ech other games, but when I click "Join" it freezes for about a minutue and then the game iself disappears off the list.

This might seem like a stupid question to you, but to get it out of the way: When using Hamachi do you try connecting to his IP that starts with 25? Or does it start with any other number?

It does infact start with 25. We have tried both the local and IPV4 address

Do you mind if I add you? I will *probably* be able to help fix it at some point.

Try lowering your Hamachi's adapter's "Metric" value to a lower value, like 15 or 25 on both your friend and your PC and try again (you modify the value in your Windows adapter network settings). That used to work for Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 back in the day via Hamachi.

Did not have any trouble with hamachie my self, make sure you can ping each other through hamachie, right click on them and click ping, if it can send data packs your fine, if no responce your firewalls might be blocking it.

Use gameranger. Much easier than Hamachi. Keep in mind that you have to run both gameranger and totala.exe in admin mode.

I have gotten tunngle to work with the game and I have used Hamachi several times for games. Game ranger needs flash to work and I wont install it due to that.
