Wrong colors :(

When i'm started the game, i got a problem with colors i have all picture in pixels with random colors in intro movies and in main menu.
Anyone have same problem? is anyone fixes it?
My system spec is
AMD FX8320
Radeon 7970
24Gb Ram
Win 7x64

1. must this file then be saved In your Total Annihilation folder?
2. Does this small txt file in theory also work for other older games such as Roller Coaster that i also got from steam but struggles with the exact same problem?

You can save it anywhere so long as your path to the game executable is valid
Works for anything
Typically you only need to do it for games using a 32bit pallet on a 64bit machine.
for example I use it with dosbox all the time

Finaly some good news how to play mine oldies again.
I will use that txt file and hope for succes(and not an pc crash).

kill explorer.exe or start TotalA.exe with any compatibility.... it does not work for me(((
I love this game)) this game from my childhood!!! Please somebody help me start it!!!!

This is what worked in my case. Also had an issue with graphics - black screen on launch. Nothing helped except using integrated intel video card. I switched my laptop to STAMINA mode and game started to work properly (without any additional tricks with DPI etc.). Win7x64 Radeon HD 6630M.

make sure your paths are correct.

this should work for Win 7. Don't know about Win 8 and Win 10 doesnt need it.

just in case I made an mistake I copied your post from "TA.bat" until ".exe" including those lines. did i made an mistake there? the game itself orks(thoug i cnnot see my economy because of the colours. though the music continues it's track after completing an match. it shows no further problems.

Got this exact same issue, been looking for a fix for the last two days and I'm at a lost. None of the things suggested here worked. Anyone else has this issue?

You can add -d in start options. That made the random colors go away for me, however the game is now windowed. This tutorial sould take care of that part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2vnKDeVO8g

Thank you; this is the only solution which worked on a win7/1050ti system.

Just a note that I fixed this as well. The issue is caused by recent Nvidia drivers. I downgraded my driver to an older version and TA works like a charm on Win7.

Thanks. I was just about to give up. Killing Explorer doesn't work. Yes this explains why I was able to play the game fine years ago, but now it wouldn't work. The -d switch is the only thing that works for me. Windows 7 64-bit NVIDIA gtx 750ti graphics card.

Problem with the -d switch is that the game doesn't play nice with some essential mods like Escalation and the megamap, but if you're just playing single player campaign, sure that'll do.
