Cavedog doesn't exist but Wargaming.net owns the IP, which means downloading it for free is pirating. You can also buy the game on GoG.
The community has kept TA alive for a long time. If you want a stable release that works on W10 without having to mess around with WINE or any of that crap, you buy it on steam. If not, then don't buy it.
Abandonware....seriously
I did not expect developers to maintain games for 20 years. I'm sorry if it sounded like I did.
Alright, I looked into it a little more. I learned a bit more about abandonware from http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/what-is-abandonware-and-is-it-legal/
So it is now owned by some company called Wargaming.net, got it. When I saw it on steam at first I was a little worried someone just tried to resell their own game for themselves.
Thanks for your (albeit a little abrasive) help.
