Is the AI actually worse in this Steam Version?
OK, title basically says it all. This is actually one of the first games I EVER played, back when it came out. I was like six years old. I have since then played it on and off my whole life, and was really happy when it showed up on Steam. But I feel like something is wrong. Playing skirmish vs bots, which always was fun and challenging, have become very easy.

Now I can beat three AI's on hard without any trouble. I feel like the AI in other "versions" I have played were alot more challenging, and I'm not talking about in the 90's, where I probably would loose against a single easy bot. I'm talking lately, the few years before it came to steam, where playing a single hard bot could be a challenge.

Does anyone agree with me on this? Is there a fix to this, patch or something, or have I simply become alot better really fast?

Thanks :)

The 3.1 end patch AI was the dumbest out of any of the game's versions, so if you had played on an older version you would have had a harder AI.

All of the game's major mods (Escalation, Zero, etc) come with competent (if cheating) AIs, and AIs for the stock game can be obtained from Quitch's AI Central.

Here is my AI for OTA, and the map I made it for:

Players 1&2 start bottom on "Position: Fixed", 3-10 start top. Made to be played without Dragon Teeth or Nukes or mass Hawks. Feel free to edit. 3.9 includes McNTerra-NS.ufo, 3.1 needs it for the AI to be effective. The AI does not build radars, so it will not "snipe", but has to come close to get LOS. This makes it fun to play.

May just be that your actualy a lot better now dude. I remember my first WC3 TFT matches against the easy AI and being pounded to dead. Now i hold myselfe against 2 insane at the same time, winning through micro untill they run out of gold where i can pic their units off one by one and ultimatly win this. Same goes for CnC Tiberium Dawn. As a kid it was hard, yet now? No way that either campaign nor the expension is still a considerable threat for the skills that develop over time.

That is a good point. A problem too was that there for some reason only were 4 total slots in the AI skirmish, and 1v3 wasn't enough of a challenge. After upgrading to 3.9.02 atleast I can play against more at once and fixes a few things. 1v9 is impossible to win, haha.
