You can also finds mods and maps there.
Anything extra you have to launch directly from the executable, which I recommend.
Also, there are so many great extra maps by the community, and the resource files required to run them, outside the officially released Cavedog maps. Check out some of the map packs linked in the pinned post.
edit: I read maps instead of mods :D
, so no, Steam does not include even 3.9 (latest community patch to the original game), or any mods.
The most played mod by far is Escalation, which can be installed with an installer so that it creates a folder f.e. TOTALA/TA Escalation/ where you can alternate which totala.exe you launch, the original or the modded one.
On Game Ranger you can enter a room and hit Ctrl+e to determine which exe you want the GameRanger platform to launch, f.e.
..TOTALA/totala.exe for the original
or
..TOTALA/TA Escalation/totala.exe for the Escalation mod.
similarly launching them from the folder/shotcuts for single player, as Steam only results into crashing when trying to launch anything modded.
Go to the containing folder in your steamapps/common/TotalAnnihilation folder and run the .exe straight from there.
Optionally, you can Copy+Paste the entire folder of a clean installation of TA into your common folder and have an additional one for mods. Provided you run the .exe straight from the directory, the game should load.
