Can't Build Some Buildings in Campaign
Hi,

I played this back when I was really little, and really only played Skirmishes. So I don't know if it's normal, but are most buildings supposed to be "grayed out"/restricted from being built even as far as Mission 6-7? For instance, I can't build ANY energy/metal storage buildings (I'm using a kbot constructor and it's grayed out). Is this supposed to be the case?

Thanks!

Hi Momo, guessing you've already solved this issue and beaten the missions. But as an aside, there 'is' a storage option available on early missions before storage buildings become available: Mass Production of Construction Kbots.

A Con Kbot produce 0.3 metal and has 50 metal/energy storage (energy production is 8-9 depending on side from memory). That means 20 Con Kbots is the equivalent of 6 metal production (i.e. 3 'top quality' metal extractors) and a metal storage building.

On Arm Missions 6 and 7, where metal storages aren't available to build, but shipwrecks of over 1,000 metal exist, then spamming con kbots can be a nice tactic to use instead. Assuming the Con Kbots don't get blown up, that is. :)

Yes, in the campaigns some tech is not yet discovered or encountered or captured, or the mission just won't let you have them. Not sure about storage, but likely. If in single player skirmish your original Total Annihilation buildings work okay, then in campaign they work also, unless they are restricted for that mission, aka "not discovered", limited, etc.

Okay, just making sure I wasn't doing something wrong! Thanks!! :D

Thank you! That actually will help a lot for my CORE campaign I plan on doing soon. Life gets so much easier with storage, though! It's definitely not a glitch that they're grayed out in earlier missions like I first suspected.

Aren't the missions pretty easy? Tbqh I never played TA's campaign, but I frankly don't think you need to farm builders against the AI.

It’s not ‘necessary’ , but it is useful for a select few missions. Mainly arm 6 and 7 from memory.

The TA campaign on Hard can have its’ challenging missions, but they aren’t anywhere near as challenging as playing a bajillion multiplayer games vs. people. So they’re probably a piece of cake for someone who is used to Multiplayer TA, and perhaps not so much for someone who isn’t.
