Is the workshop the only thing different between the two?

Guess no reason to get it unless the mod scene gets good.

The game was originally made in 2003 and the HD version in 2012.
Steam has taken the HD version (from 2012) added the Steam related bells and whistles, not really any game improvements. I would get it at GOG for almost half the price compared to Steam.

Concidering that the game is XP compatible shows that there has been no improvements of the game code to use any of the newer technologies. It looks more like a money grab to squeeze out some more of it.

in fact 99% of gog releases come with a lot more content than old games in steam, also they have fixes for win7/8/10, sometimes to play some old game purchased in steam I have to pirate its gog verison because steam verison come incompatible with windows 7 =)

How is selling the game a money grab?

Look at the price, almost 15€ for a game you could by for 5€ a few years back on a "Best By" CD (yes I'm old enough to remember games on CD) . All they have done, seems to be "Steamify" it and adding trading cards. This is what I mean with money grab. You take an old almost dead game (original from 2003 and improved in 2012) and resell it at full price without adding any significant value to it...

It's like reanimating your dead horse, paint it blue and resell it at full price...
(I'm not complaining about the game itself, only the high price for such an old game).

Well, after looking on the Interwebz, I found copies for under $10 US. This is definitely worth the $3.75 they're selling it for right now*, but not the $15 they're asking. I don't even think I paid that much in the EB or BB bargain shelf a year or so after it came out.

I will say it runs under Win 8/10 (for me), and it may depend on hardware. I don't use background tasks while playing older games as many of them didn't like being minimized.

And my copy also has the editor, so if that's missing, it was removed intentionally, as it was built into the game.

*Tempting to pay that just for the achievements and cards as I don't think I could register the key on steam.

According to a comment on GOG[www.gog.com]itself:

"They made an updated definitive version exclusive to Steam. It not only includes the usual Steam nonsense, but also adds HD graphics upgrade, a re-balance to easy mode, and a new mini campaign." (micktiegs_8)
