Split Second Does NOT have Controller Support

A game that has Full Controller support like this game advertises,the controller works in menus and in the game without requiring the use of the keyboard. Can it be said that this game has partial controller support because the controller works in game but not the menus? Again NO ! You need the keyboard to manually configure the controller to work in the game only. So by no means or any stretch of the imagination does this game have Full or even Partial controller support which is utter crap for a console port! I will be refunding this game immediately which is a huge disappointment because I love it.

I never had to do anything to fix it. Are you on Windows 10? I remember having controller issues with games before I updated from Windows 7 but it could be unrelated.

my main gaming pc is windows 10 but im streaming to a linux machine and the controllers are plugged in to them. all my other games work with controller...even games with no controller support...split second is the only game i have difficulty with

It could be because Steam is using your controller to emulate mouse/keyboard. The reason it works on other games but not this one is because your stick is being interpreted as WASD, but those keys do not navigate the menus in this game. If you decide to buy the game again then you can download or make your own key bindings for your controller.

TLDR:
Due to streaming, stick is bound to WASD but W, A, S and D are not used to navigate the menus in this game therefor you cannot control them. That's my theory anyway.

I have been using Xbox 360 controllers and Steering wheels with Split/Second Velocity PC version for several years now with any issues and today after installing the Steam version, I can confirm that they work without needing any setup or configuration. I tried both the Xbox 360 controller (with the Microsoft dongle) and the wired Xbox 360 controller on its own. Both worked flawlessly. All you need to do is to make sure that your controller / steering wheel is setup / connected to the PC BEFORE starting Steam. If you connected the controller while Steam was already running then you try exiting Steam fully by closing it (not minimising only) and then to restart Steam again. That's all there is to it.

I tested it again today, the controller detection is acting weird I think. Sometimes it works in the main menus, sometimes it doesn't. I think it has something to do with the Steam "Controller configuration." Worth a try. I have both Steam Controller and Xbox 360 controller. Right now, Steam Controller with keyboard mapping in main menus and analog controller mapping in the in-game driving are both working. For Xbox 360 controller, 100% working in in-game driving but not always working in the main menus.

BTW, they should remaster or reboot this game!!!

I have a Xbox one controller, but you can just configure it in the control options in the game.. Just set the buttons you want to use..
