Landmark

Games similar to Landmark that may fill the void.
Update April 2020: I was thinking about updating the list, but I don't have the time or interest atm, so if anyone feel like opening a 2020 edition-thread, feel free to do so.

(BIG NOTICE: Keep the hate out. This thread is only about games that can fill the void that landmark left. There will be no arguments here about daybreaks decisions what-so-ever. There are plenty threads about that already.)

So this thread is basically about games you can play that are similar to landmark.
So if you want me to add it to the main post so tell me :)

The biggest requirement: It must allow you to build. And multiplayer.

A few that comes to mind:

Trove
Type: F2P MMO
This is a game I've tried out and really liked. You'll have something which is similar to claims/build sites which is called "cornerstone". You can build your house (very limited space), but you can spawn it basically anywhere you can find the so called "cornerstone".

And you and your guild can have your very own dimension which allowes you to build huge guild halls and other similar things.

Cons:The leveling is incredibly repetitive, and the voxels/blocks are way too big. They are bigger than the "knight"-class.

Skysaga (EDIT: CANCELLED)
Type: MMO/Shared world
I haven't played this one in a while, but I'll tell you what I remember.
You have your very own "claim" in the sky where you can build! There is a town you can visit to buy stuff. And you can pick up quests and go out on adventures via the portal on your "claim".

Cons: Heavily instanced. Pretty much everything is instanced as far as I know.
Still in test phase.

Planet Explorers (EDIT: MULTIPLAYER ACCIDENTALLY PERMANENTLY REMOVED*)
Type: Singleplayer/Multiplayer (semi-MMO).
I haven't played this one in a while, but I'll tell you what I remember.
This games has some really cool features. The world is "non-blocky" similar to landmark, and you can build vehicles and other things. I haven't played this too much, but it does show promise!
*They lost all server code. The game is now free, and exclusively single player.

Dragon Quest Builders 2
Type: B2P Singleplayer/Multiplayer
Minecraft-like game with a story-campaign.
More info coming soon (currenty playing atm)

Upcoming:

Dual Universe
Type: MMO
A crowdfunded MMO which looks similar to No man's sky, and could be one of the better alternatives to Landmark. It even has a scripting system.

Edit: Totally forgot about this thread. It has almost been 2 years. But a quick update: Skysaga is no longer in development. The website says it has been put on hold, but I doubt it will return any time soon.

One that comes to mind is:

Second Life - Love it or hate it but it fits the criteria being an MMO and it has fantastic building options. Plenty of chances to socialize if you want and you can buy land and keep it for a monthly fee which depends upon how much land you own. Great avatar customization, plenty to see and do. Has it's share of idiots and griefers, like any game, but those can be avoided.

Wurm Online.

Rising World, an early access title with some good building.

I doubt there's anything out there as detailed as Landmark as far as building goes.

"Boundless" seems to be nice.

Sadly nothing compares to landmark.
This game left a big void in my gaming life that is yet to be filled.

January 2019, nothing compared to Landmark and the game is still gathering dust in Daybreak's shelves.

There are similar games for sure, but nothing exactly like Landmark, and Landmark is most likely never coming back.

However, there is something in the works by a person and certain company that is heavily linked to Landmark. I haven't looked so much into it myself tbh, but there is something around the corner. There is information about it if you know where to search.

If you're talking about Dual Universe, the pvp in there is mainly what keeps me out. I know there is protected places but I'm a pve player mainly.

Not quite. It's a guy who was hired by SoE and made some concept art for EQN back in the days. He's working on his own game now. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to his twitter (just in case people will start bothering him), but here's a screenshot! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Drv0nhhW4AAha5G.jpg

Edit: It's using unreal engine + voxelfarm (same stuff SoE/Daybreak used in Landmark, but Landmark used Forgelight instead of unreal engine)

I'm kinda confused what the game/project name is.
From all the pic's I've just look at it looks promising. :Mirro_love:

Found an amazing candidate. CardLife Game.

It's on Steam, it's in early access but it's built on VoxelFarm and Unity and has a number of the elements of Landmark that I enjoyed at least.

Check it out, it's <$20!

I've been playing Dual Universe (DU). Due to NDA I can't say much about it, but it is an AWESOME game. Just went from pre-alpha, to alpha 1. Open now to everyone who buys in on either sponsor ($120) or patron ($180) packs. The 3rd package ($60) will give you access when alpha 2 goes live, which should be the first half of this year according to their website. It's a bit expensive, but it's a great game. There's videos on youtube if you want to get a look at it.

Keen Software House: Medieval Engineers and Space Engineers. Close but not quite the same. Supports custom and private servers, as well as some official ones. Custom servers usually have 32-64 players, but no where near as many as Dual Universe. DU does not support certain video cards, and it has more plausible voxelmancy.
