Blurriness
Everything is so... blurr and out of focus? Like me when i'm not wearing glasses!
It's just me or everyone else is having a similar problem?
I'd tried to turn down AA and post effects but that din't help... and my rendering scale is 100% so that isn't the problem either...

I really don't understand why game devs put blur in games. It is just terrible.
Monitor blur (and also the film grin and depth of field) is the first thing I turn off in any game.

Welcome to modern gaming.
In the past we would have detailed options to turn stuff off/on as we please, but noooo... We can't have nice things anymore.
UE is partialy to blame, pushing stuff not every one wants nor every game needs.
TAA is on by default, and it's the Satan's work. Honestly I'm pretty sure The Devil himself invented TAA. Let us turn it off at least, or offer different AA options.
Also I've noticed the game uses depth of field, but also doesn't allow you to turn it off, or at least not all the way off.

However even if you would turn all of that off, due to the engine pretty much assuming all that crap will be on by default, the end result is a grainy image.
*sigh* this is what we get now. That's why people don't like UE.

Yes it actually strains my eyes pretty badly when moving the camera around.

I also noticed the blurriness. In my game the resolution scale was at 75% by default which is super weird. But even after changing the settings, there are still many areas around your party that are blurry. Sometimes even shimmery. Probably some kind of DOF effect, but not sure.

Try turning off depth of field and motion blur. These are two effects that never look good in any game.

Put the post processing effect settings on low

Its the motion blur effect in games. You notice the effect the most when you rotate the camera around fast in either direction.

Turn motion blur down from 50% to 20%. It makes the textures sharp again but still retains some of the blur effect. Had to do this in cyberpunk too because I was wondering why such a high end game looked like blurry nonsense lol.

I turned render to 100%, motion blur to 0%, turned off AA and it is still blurry, like there are some kind of DoF or other post process effects, especially when moving camera around

Told you, you have to put the post processing setting to low. It's the only way to turn off depth of field.
I don't mind depth of field in cutscenes but it's super annoying elsewhere.
I had hoped it was just because its still a demo.. Same thing with the random ' marilyn Monroe ' effect in cut scenes.. where the NPC's cloths shoot up into the sky as they flash you .. :moxes:

Try highest AA, lowest Post Process, motion blur to 0%. Scaling at 100% is best, but it seems ok down to 70%. This seemed to work for me at least for clarity (not blurry). I set everything else to high/epic because it didn't seem to affect fps much, but the other settings don't seem to affect blurriness. This was at 1080p on a 24" monitor at ~90 cm viewing distance.

Biggest factors for fps seem to be AA and scaling, so there is a tradeoff.

The thing is YOU CAN'T TURN OFF BLURRINESS! Doesn't matter how you tweak options, you never get a sharp game. I don't understand how game dev & unreal eng dev can release a game like this. What's the point of HD if everything is blurry? It's like the high point of game graphics was Crysis 1 and since it only degraded!

Devs, please, give us all the options to tweak / turn off settings!

People complain about unity, but I find Unreal become worse with horrible rendering engine. Sad game era where only very few game studio can dev their own engines (or tweak the existing ones). I'm at a point where I prefer older game look, or indie/demake styles.

You got it wrong the moment you said "release a game like this". This is not the game, this is an Alpha, of course it won't have all the settings available and won't be perfect, it's not meant to be perfect.

Most alphas i played to while playtesting games had straight on area only made of cubes, cinematics made only in sketches.

This here is the most polished alpha i've ever played.

But i'll agree with the fact blurryness and bloom in UE games that came out of late are terrible and that i'd rather not have it at all from base.
