Solasta II

Solasta II

Initial observations on demo
Enjoyed playing the demo, still a bit confused about the spell casting side of things but that will probably become clear on additional game time.

I am using the mouse clicking mode the move my party but the camera does not follow the selected character which is very annoying, its frustrating to have to navigate the camera with the keyboard as well. Camera needs to stay preferably directly behind chosen character (default) unless set by player and use mouse wheel to zoom in/out etc. Also when entering buildings etc camera should auto zoom inside enclosed space. Apologies if this has been suggested before.

Solasta spellcasting is D&D spellcasting, copy and pasted.
It's a point system referred to as "slots." If you have 1st level slots, you can use them to cast any 1st level spell you have available. If you have 2nd level slots, you can use them to cast any spell of 2nd level or lower that you have available. If you have no slots, you cannot cast any spells.
Spells require components, which may be verbal, somatic (hand gestures) or a material. If your caster does not have a free hand (sword and shield for example) they won't be able to cast any spells requiring somatic components.

I don't remember having any camera problems in the demo. It's possible I didn't notice. But the camera does follow a selected character in Solasta 1, and it should be present in Solasta 2. If it's not following your chosen character, it's possibly user error on your end or it's something they haven't gotten around to yet with the new engine.

If the camera auto-zoomed when entering a building, then players would be complaining to have to zoom out so they can look around the building for loot and interaction points. I think not zooming in may be the lesser evil.

You can set the camera mode to first person, and you will walk with WASD and the camera will be looking at your back (except when you shaft right/left/back). But you can also click and they'll move. See my video for how it works:

As for the spells, each character can cast a specific number of spells of each level, per long rest. Joralas can cast 4 level one spells and 2 level two spells. That's all for him. And that's why you need to ration them, instead of flashing them every turn like most CRPGs.
