🚨 You won't be able to link GW1 to GW2 Steam accounts

Can I link my Guild Wars 1 account to my Guild Wars 2 Steam account?

No, Guild Wars 1 accounts cannot be linked to a Guild Wars 2 account that was created via Steam. If your Guild Wars 2 account was created via Steam, you will not have the option to link a Guild Wars 1 account within the Account Management page of your ArenaNet account.

However, if you have a Guild Wars 1 account that was created via Steam, you will be able to link it to an existing [non-Steam] Guild Wars 2/ArenaNet account that was created via the Guild Wars 2 website. Steps on how to link to an ArenaNet account can be located here.

Eh, the Hall of Monuments isn't really required for GW2 anyway, all it gets you is titles, some armor+weapon skins that cost nothing to transmute to, and a couple pets that are ultimately meh.

Idk, I would be pretty bummed if I spent a ton of time on my account and only then realised I was locked out from a significant batch of rewards.

I mean yeah, but there's at least still the non-steam account linking so it's not a total loss, just a headache if you want the HoM stuff

It will be a total loss if one's main GW2 account is a Steam-locked one.

Basically ANet for some (probably financial) reason has to strictly separate Steam GW2 accounts from the regular GW1/GW2 accounts.

No, you can't. You need a non-steam GW2 account to link GW1.

Not indeed Basically GW1 accounts aren't tied to our Steam user ID, Steam just launches the client and you can login with any GW1 account there. Conversely the Steam-locked GW2 accounts do seem tied to our Steam user ID, so the two can't be mixed.

Thankfully you can use steam as a "buffer" to launch your non-steam version of GW2, sucks that you need a non-steam account though

Is there no way to link at all? I mean I already have the steam version connected to my main Gw2 account(non-steam)already. What is the point of buying another Gw2 account on steam when it can't even link to the Gw1 steam bought version? So If I just bought Gw2 again on here, I wouldn't have any HoM rewards at all because there is no way it can link Gw1 regardless of steam bought or not? They basically canceled out what the 'Eye of The North' is worth? I'm not buying Gw2 on here if there is no way it can link to a Gw1 account.

I think for veterans there's zero point of creating a Steam-locked GW2 account. All money and time invested in the two games is discarded.

It's only for new players. I heard some people appreciate Steam's regional pricing and the ability to use their Steam wallet for purchases.

I have Gw2 account I was created for collecting the free given twitch items, sounds like I'm lucky then did the right thing with creating gw2 account then creation of the gw1 account from arena net, then I can link my gw1 steam keys account into my gw2 arene net account.. I'm missing the last eye of the north expension only.. I have the trilogy

eotn of the north smoothly rounds off the game, with the skills and additional heroes it provides, where it becomes really valuable at least for me is the snowball dominance minigarme during wintersday in eye of the north, this minigame can be easily farmed and repeated in a fairly rapid amount of time which can accumulate quite a few rewards, and unique holiday themed PvE advantages. i personally really enjoyed the expansion, however it was quite challenging at times. it also allows you to venture into some of the guild wars beyond stuff as well.

What does it mean, can you create a guild wars 1 account via steam?

I created an arenanet account via steam. Can I register the guild wars 1 keys to it? Or do I need to create an arenanet account via an email address?

I prefer creating accounts via steam so I don't need to remember logins/passwords.
