Which version is more complete?
Trilogy or GOTY edition

GW GOTY is just the Prophecies campaign with the GOTY bonus items. The Trilogy contains the same plus the other two standalone campaigns (Factions and Nightfall).

If you want all the available content, buy the Trilogy plus the Eye of the North expansion. Or the Complete Collection from the official site for 8 GBP cheaper. (The downside is that way you can't have Steam track your playtime or upload screenshots etc.)

The Trilogy includes the GOTY Bonus items. Never bought the GOTY but I have them

but yea. Either wait for a sale (Almost never happens) or buy the Complete Collection from the Official site

Ill just use it for the first 6 hom points for me to unlock heritage armor in gw2, so it's trilogy and then purchase eotn separately, yes?

Yeah i see that complete edition in official store, does it have more bonuses that wasnt being included in trilogy + eotn? it's not necessarily cheaper for me if I put region pricing of steam in the equation by comparing the price of the complete collection, but if it has more bonuses included that might help me get easier hom points then i would gladly purcahse it from there.

If you're going for Legendary defender of Ascalon then the GOTY bonuses can go a way to skip some of the grind for that title. The Complete Edition has the GOTY upgrade included as well

Yup, those two. Easiest way to connect them is to add the CD key Steam gives you to your GW2 account, then you can also login in the GW client with the same account details.

And as far as I see on those wiki links, the Complete Collection has the same GOTY bonus items as the Trilogy.

May i ask, since there is;

Guild Wars® Game of the Year Edition
Guild Wars: Factions®
Guild Wars: Nightfall®
Guild Wars: Eye of the North®

Editions on Steam, are those DLC's for Classic Guild Wars expect the Game of the Year Edition after buying for to get in to Classic version? I played GW2 but i want to test this Classic version out which i suppose it's first game that people call Guild Wars 1? Just confused since on Steam profiles under ''Recent events'' that game shows small picture with Game of the year edition but only named Guild Wars, not like Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition or something. Could you please enlighten me?

If I remember right, Guild Wars was originally on Steam but was removed in favour of the GOTY version. Instead of making a new product page (or adding the DLC upgrade), they updated the current store page to be Game of the Year.
You noticed how there's no Store Page button at the top of this page? It's also why you can't review the game. (There's only 8 reviews)
The store page is for Guild Wars Game of the Year. No one actually has it in their library since the product we actually have in our library is Guild Wars. We can't review it since there's no Guild Wars store page anymore

and the only Xpak for the game is Eye of the North. Think of Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall as standalone Guild Wars games that connect to each other and let you use one campaign characters in another game.

TD;DR. Get Trilogy and Eye of the North (Steam) or The Complete Edition (Official site) and you'll have all content (Besides the bonus mission pack)

Yes this classic/original Guild Wars is the one people call GW1.

They set up the games weirdly on Steam - the campaigns and expac all have separate app IDs and store pages, but they are all linked to the this generic 'Guild Wars' community hub with a different ID, which in turn doesn't have its own store page. (That's why you have to fake your playtime if you want to be able to leave a review on one of the store pages.)

The Game of the Year Edition is the first campaign that was later renamed Prophecies. The other two standalone campaigns are Factions and Nightfall. You can play any of these three without needing to buy the other two, though of course the complete experience includes all. You can buy them cheaper if you buy the Trilogy instead of the separate campaigns.

Eye of the North is the only true expansion pack Guild Wars has, as it only features max lvl content, and can be accessed from any of the standalone campaigns.

So if you want to buy all the game content, either buy Trilogy + EotN from Steam, or the Complete Collection from the official GW store.

If you're not sure you would enjoy the game, you can just buy one of the campaigns first (I recommend Nightfall), and later buy the others.

Edit: haha got ninja'd :D

kazerniel Dec 3, 2021 @ 5:55am
