The one setting i think that rlly makes the game look unique (and run like ♥♥♥♥) is the sg.GlobalIlluminationQuality=3 . the 3 corresponds to (i think) raytracing lighting which gives the game its characteristic look.
this is what i use to try to make my game smoother, but also not look TOO trash.

and ofc i bump the res down to help more. runs alot better after fiddling with the settings doc. at 1680x1050 im getting no stutters on the third map and over 90 fps up to wave 8. I have a RTX 3070ti laptop gpu and ryzen 7 6800h cpu. try following the Graphics fix guide, and then mess with settings until the game looks the way u want and runs better.
