Could someone give me advice on how to defeat 'The Soul', I get that I'm supposed to hit it when its a seperate entity but how do i do that?

I don't think you have to hit it when it's split. I just hit it and won. Like most of the bosses it's all about timing.

You can hit him whenever you want. The best strategy in my opinion is to wait for him to shoot then roll out of the way of his arrow. Now line yourself up perpendicular to him and his arrow and charge your arrow. As he runs to collect his arrow, fire yours. GG

Are you sure? I'm fairly certain I've hit him a lot, and it was only after catching the split version that I won. And beyond that, what purpose is there to splitting if it isn't his vulnerable point?

Its really all about timing, just dodge his arrows and try to hit him

So I just managed to defeat the soul, and you do have to hit him when he is split, how I timed it perfectly I have no idea.

I spent about a hundred lives on this boss, twice what the rest of the game took me, because I thought there might be something to the fact that he steals your arrow and charges it with electricity. I thought that I had to use that against him, so I experimented with clashing against his white arrow, with pulling my arrow away while he was trying to claim it, etc.

But it turns out it really is just about hitting him during his dash move when the white form is separated from his true body. Just dance with him, keep a defensive position, don't give up your arrow, and always be ready for that opening. He does the dash move periodically without provocation, so just be ready. The timing and the target are both really tight, so be patient with your misses and focus on surviving a prolonged fight.

Must've lucked out then and hit him at the exact moment of the dash. My bad, XD

i had real big problems with the soul, i could not hit him when he was split. but i succeeded when i hit him without him even being split. after he shot his arrow i ran over and stood right on the arrow and when he pulled it in i shot him and he died.
i think that everytime you try to shoot him he dodges (splits) just in the last second before getting hit showing that you have to hit his solid form but apparently it doesn't matter if you hit his solid form while its inside the white soul or after it has dodged out of the way.
but yea i thought the same thing as shadowspaz, why show him split if thats not his vulnerable state.
i'm just glad i figured out how to kill him

18 killed, 282 deaths
and most of them were on the soul and the boss right before.

i hate the last boss, i've reached its 3rd phase but i f-ing hate it.
anyone beat truth? and is the 3rd state the last one?

For Truth's third phase, just knock away the toothy guys that come between you and the purple-eyed spider thing and keep your distance until you have a shot at its purple eye.

ok thnx, took a few deaths but the first phase is pretty simple now, and the second is all about surviving and finding the sperm with a purple eye :)

You can actually deflect his arrow with your own arrow. I just tried to stick right next to him the whole fight deflecting his shots when I had the chance quickly picking my arrow back up before he could control it. Then as soon as he seperated into two, I got a shot in and killed him. I don't know if he has to be seperated or not but that was the only way I could beat him.

yea you have to hit him doing an action like being split or pulling back his arrow like i did otherwise he'll just dodge and split.
don't know how this works but when i fought him i accidentally picked up his arrow when it were closer than mine but he electrified my arrow and killed me with it just as i picked up his and died just as i held his arrow above my head.

I need help, i shoot him when he pulls back his arrow to shoot and he teleports and after he shoots when he pulls back the arrow but he teleports again and i shot him when he was a serperate entiyy but i need help

Alright just beat the soul no-roll mode. And so this is what I found.

Mechanics

• Fires arrow similar to yours
  
• Your arrow can block his arrow and when you pull your arrow back it also pulls his towards you
  
• He can grab your arrow and then send it bouncing around the arena (will kill you on hit)
  
• If you hit him in soul form he will instantly teleport
  
• He will teleport after almost every shot excluding the first
  
• Each time he shoots he spawns lightning orbs which follow you if you get within aggro range, they will not stop following until they despawn which seems to be some time after he spawns a new group of orbs

Behavior

• Walks around a bit then shoots arrow
  
• He seems to mimic my movements at a 180* angle difference(?)
  
• I found that he would not teleport if I was too far away from him
  
• He will back off if you get too close to him
  
• He sometimes pulls his arrow in and sometimes walks to it (dunno what triggers each)
  
• He will try to pull your arrow to himself (seems more likely when it is close to him)
  
• He seems to predict your movement when aiming and aim a little ahead of you in the direction you're moving

Strategy

There isn't a set in stone strategy for normal mode, as if you stay in the same spot the lightning will get you before he teleports and it's extremely difficult to perfectly mimic past attempts. Still I would suggest trying to mimic your past movements as best as possible. After you avoid the first two arrow shots you should have a general idea of where he's going to teleport and get ready to shoot there the moment you see/hear the tele happening. This is pretty much how I killed him in normal mode, hard mode, and no-roll.
If you want a specfic strat on normal mode try mimicing what I did here.
Aggro from the bottom square. Dodge up and to the left. Continue walking until you get the the edge of the bottom left square and walk up until your at the interior corner of the black ground texture. Dodge up and to the right and aim down and to the right. When he teleports loose the arrow and hopefully get yourself a kill.

@Daynar nice , you finished truth quick there, thats the only boss i haven't beaten yet. haven't tried since last time 2 days ago, just got bloodborne so i've been wasting some time in that instead :) back to titan souls tomorrow, time to beat hard mode and no-roll mode :)
