Because I just plugged my Dualshock 4 with USB and it worked without any extra download.
I am not the maker of that software, I am not promoting it as my own, it is a very popular software that simulates keyboard buttons in your controller that I'v been using for years.
Feel free to google it, once you do you'll find a lot of posts about it and countless images.
This solution is for people with a ... lets just say "Nonbrand" Controllers .. you know ... cheap chinese knockoffs like mine, I really want to get an xbox 360 controller but its not being sold here and I cant order online.
I've been using Xpadder for years with most plateformers and adventure games.
It's honestly the best program to port your keyboard's keys to a controller.
Works like a charm.
Not everyone has a plug-and-play USB Dualshock like you.
Your distrust is wrongly placed.
I might trust the guy, but not in this particular matter, because I know this is the worst solution to the problem.
No and that's exactly reason why I have several controllers, I always test at least wired 360, steam controller and dualshock 4 with games, if necessary some third party unnamed controllers and add in necessary information to PCGW article of the game. As this game uses SDL2, it's XInput controllers and known DirectInput controllers, meaning that unknown controllers simply has to be added to games or global controller list.
I almost take it as personal offence at this point if developers have been actually nice enough to give solution for those without Xbox controllers, even as far as to also give in-game instructions with buttons of your controller, then someone comes and says "nah, just gonna use xpadder, lol". Because I want better controller support from games, but how to justify that to developers if they see that everyone uses some freaking xpadder anyway.
I know, but it's still the worst solution for it. Even if you have non-branded controller, that doesn't mean you have to justify on sub par solutions.
Because I could even get my Wamo chinese knockoff bluetooth controller to work with the game by generating button mappings, either from Steam Big Picture, SDL2 config tool[www.generalarcade.com]or something else.
I got the following string:
Dude, you're taking this way too far for absolutely no reasons.
I understand that a game company should fix its game if we're unable to use our controller.
It doesn't remove the fact that Xpadder is a wonder in itself and no it doesn't make anything more complicated and harder unless you're an absolute computer illiterate at the point where you're not even able to use paint...
At the contrary, it's often more simple to open up Xpadder and play right away than looking or waiting for a fix which can never come.
It's not a true solution by the game's devs but it's still the best software for a quick compatibility between your keyboard and your controller.
I really don't understand this hate toward Xpadder.
Stop trashing Xpadder. The problem isn't Xpadder, the problem is the devs of these games.
2. You are making the game harder because controllers whole analog range can be utilized, while xpadder locks you to 8-directional axis. Because aiming is done like that, game becomes harder for you.
And yes. I do hate xpadder and other keyboard wrappers because they are maybe too easy to use, but I do understand the notion of making controller work regardless of what is being played. What I do not like is making seperate thread with title suggesting that everyone should use Xpadder with any controller.
Also what you're saying is that you have to play the game on big picture mode.
nooooo
nooooo nooooo how many times do I have to say this
No matter what I did , this game refused to work with all my controllers, same thing for my 5 friends who all played this game, you just have controllers that happened to be in the game's controller list.
Games that has "Superb" support, are those that once I plugin ANY controller, it works, and all I have to do is go to settings, and assign the keys to the controller and Bam.
This one didn't
get this through you're head you're seriously so ignorant on what Xinput and C# is that it became annoying to me I rather not reply here any further and discuss with someone who doesn't know the difference between what I'm saying and what you're saying, and just basing your stuff over some reddit "Probably" article you read, im done, bye.
Feel free to make your own post with your own imaginary solution to a problem that was fixed for you only hoping it miraculously;y works for everyone else
Also I retested it and yes, I set up my controller in big picture, give it any name, send it to valves database, close big picture and start the game AND controller works. So you do not need any extra software even, just make sure your controller is set up with steam.
It only refuses to use my wired 360 if I have other controllers plugged in.
E: ...damn. I do feel kinda bad, because you did only want to help others, but no, I'm not the guy who simply read reddit post and then spreads it. I actually really like SDL2 implementation in games, it's just that all my current controllers have always been on that list so I didn't know how exactly it is that controllers that aren't on list act like, but apparently pretty well.
