If you're a big fan of Hyper Light Drifter, Titan Souls, I think you will glad the new upcoming game: ITTA. The full release of this game will be in the next year, however at the moment I can say that this game has a big potential. Cheers

well i see people are putting "unforgiving" games that are all about "trial and error" as "similar" games to titan souls. so i will give you 2 games that are "unforgiving" that also are "trial and error" considering they are nothing LIKE OR SIMILAR to titan souls. (ninja blade, furi, dark souls and cuphead, shadow of the colosus" (the list includes hyper light drifter and jotun even though they're similar)

Moon Hunters 2d top down game that requires you to beat the game a BUNCH of times to completely unlock the full game because you unlock more by completing stories through each character "well made and thought out aspect of the game that makes me love it." it can be very unforgiving (if you die you restart the whole story on that character, including death to the "final" boss) and unlocking more characters/ stories, constellations is all through trial and error.

Armed with Wings rearmed a 2d side scroller that is rediculously hard, where you try and progress further in the game to unlock better weapons, perks, abilities and characters. the game is extremely unforgiving. it relies heavily upon trial and error. you have story mode, and survival.
