HOMM3 HD won't start

I launched the game, played for about 45 minutes. After closing the game and restarted my computer, I started steam and click play but the launcher gives me an error message.

"CreateProcess returned an error....

ERROR CODE : 2"

Can anyone help?

Disable real time protection at your McAfee.

Any other ideas? Mine wouldn't even launch. I don't have McAfee.

Could be your virus scanner / firewall blocking the game. Do you have a trusted files or unrecognized files list in your firewall of your security suite. You just need to tell your firewall. Yes I trust this file. Let it execute. Happens to me quite often.

I had the same problem, my antivirus program quarantined the program. Just restore the file with the antivirus software and it should be good to go.

F-secure sees the HOMM launcher as a trojan. Remove from quarantine. Worked for me.

Got the same problem with bullguard. Removing it from the vault doesn't help, as it'll just return next time I try to start the game. I don't know how to get Bullguard to ignore it, can anyone help?

Anyone with a solution? I have F-Secure I've removed the "Blokade" but it still says Error 2 :(

If you go to the 'Status' page of the Avast user interface, there should be some icons in the middle-ish of the interface, one of which is 'Quick Scan' by default. If you right click on these icons you can change what they are, and one of the options for it to be is the Virus Chest. It is also possible that you don't have all four of the options filled, and there may be two boxes that have an option to add a function to them. If so, just click on where it says 'Add' and click on the Virus Chest option.
