It works for me, so I'm not sure why it won't load for you.

All of our games including Heroes 3 were designed before Windows 10 was launched. That means your operating system is, sadly, not officially supported for the game. I know specifically Heroes III HD was designed for Windows 7 and Windows 8 as shown here in the system requirements post[support.ubi.com]. However, for those of you who can't run games in Windows 10, please try running Uplay and Steam in compatability mode, and I also recommend running both programs as an administrator to try and compensate for not being officially supported. Other people have done things such as uninstall/reinstall Steam, make sure there are no conflicting overlay programs, make sure they have the latest video card drivers, etc. If you continue having an issue, feel free to contact our [url]Support team[/urll].[support.ubi.com]

anyone got a fix how to start this game on windows 10?
I manage to get the launch menu, and when i click play nothing happens.

It worked a few years ago on my laptop, so no idea as to why it won't work now..

I got it working.
https://www.openal.org/downloads/

Click this link and install the first one: OpenAL 1.1 Core SDK (zip).
After that, it worked.

Check your Firewall/Antivirus settings. I was having the "encountered an unexpected behaviour" error message; turns out, BitDefender was blocking the program. Allowed the game and launcher and now everything works fine.

Step 1
Download openAL32.dll here: https://www.dllme.com/dll/files/openal32_dll.html

Step 2
unzip it to the folder where HOMM 3 HD installed
(e.g. C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Heroes of Might & Magic III - HD Edition)

Done.
