I never got the chance to play these when I was young and I wanted to get it on steam, oh well.
Noone complains about that, and cash out 60$....
So just buy it, and ENJOY it.
Its a GEM.
So not only additional content, but also bug fixes, balance patches, multiplayer support, and some QoL changes. Definitely recommended over this overpriced, lazy version.
and install free HD fan patch and HotA patch i.e. to be found these places:

Amen.
For anyone who's even remotely serious about Heroes 3, this is the only answer. For those who insist on playing this particular version, you are playing a game that has been thoroughly gutted of features and content, whether you're presently enjoying yourself or not.
Think of and compare Diablo 2's dozens of fan-made HD mods and think of Diablo 2 Res...
And, It is also a good thing that the game is officially supported and kept alive.
After all, everyone can think whatever they want, they can like it or not. It is also a personal choice not to prefer the modded version so it's not whining.
If we're being technical, the Complete edition is the original and official incarnation by 3DO/NWC, the ones who actually made the game. All Ubisoft did was slather a new coat of paint on 3DO's masterpiece. This version feels more like a third party mod than the actual HD mod. The only difference is business dealings and licensing.
Diablo 2 was just fine without the DRM added by Res. Blizzard sold their souls over a decade ago. Perhaps the choice of word "whining" was a bit harsh, but the actual Heroes 3 community that's been around for 20 years would stand with everything he said.
I agree that the official remaster is not enough and is just an simple upscale (dont even want to mention about missing dlc's). I also agree that the HD mod adds better features than the remaster.
I never intend to say that HD mode is worthless, bad. On the contrary, it is a very valuable, important work and effort for the title to live.
However, what people are trying to encourage here, I think, is to point Ubisoft towards a modern version of the entire HoMM 3 (including the game and dlc's) that is not just an upscale remaster, with of course keeping the spirit of it. [They've made The Settlers btw...]
I also agree with the view on Blizzard. I wish we could see deeper things as it used to be, instead of Diablo Mobile, which is a money-made character type game on mobile, But still, I think they've done a good job of modernizing the D2. (if we don't include DRM)
And I'm a member of the mentioned 20-year-old community :) HoMM 1-2-3 (even i liked 4)... Diablo 1-2... Warcraft 2, Starcraft 1, whatever... I gave them hundreds of hours in my childhood.
So, In my opinion, at a time when remasters of almost all classics, for better or worse, have already been made, HoMM 3 deserves an official modernised full remaster.
Regards,
Alright, your tactical threat assessment is complete. You check out. I am far less forgiving of this HD "remake" than you are, but I can appreciate where you're coming from and you do sound legit. You're free to enter.
