PROBLEM SOLVED

Hi,

I've had the same problems for 2 weeks.Today I went to the Heroes III folder, and opened the game as an administrator. "Resolution window" (starting window) appeared so I clicked "Play". The game didn't run but an error message went out : "OpenAL32.dll Not Found" (this didn't happen when running the game normally, from Steam).
So I tiped that in google and downloaded the file. When you download the Openal32.dll file, let it be installed by default and don't move it into the game's folder because it won't work (at least it didn't in my case).
Once you've downloaded it, you have to go to Steam>steamapps>common>Heroes of Might & Magic III - HD Edition > _CommonRedist > OpenAL > 2.0.7.0 > oalinst.exe

This will execute a license which installs something you need. The licence does not describe the product but only the lack of warranty and some other things. I don't really know what does this make but it worked for me, but anyways it's part of the game files so it shouldn't be a problem.

Note: I have to run the game as an administrator (running it from Steam still doesn't work, but at least I can play).

I hope it works for you too guys.
Salut,

I tried the previous solution, without success.

But I found an easy way to launch the game:
- Access your local files of Heroes
- Open "Properties" of HOMM3 2.0.exe
- In "Compatibility", check "Deactivate scaling for high resolutions" ("Désactiver la mise à l'échelle de l'affichage pour les résolutions élevées" in french...)
- Launch Heroes3 from Steam \o/

Maybe it was due to the fact that I use a 24" screen?

Hi Guys,

In order to fix this issue go to the game folder in this location "Heroes of Might & Magic III - HD Edition\_CommonRedist\OpenAL\2.0.7.0" and run the "oalinst " application . This application will instal some things related to resolution whatever.....

Worked perfectly, and solved the issue in less than 30 seconds. Thanks a lot man, for letting me enjoy this precious game one more time !

I have the same problem. This file location doesn't exist for me after I download the program through Steam.

I did a search for the oalinst.exe file in the main Steam folder and found it. I then ran the file and now Heroes works just fine.

OpenAl driver is the problem. If you can't find it in your game folder, just search the internet for it, it's free. Game launched after installing it.
