Report a translation problem
It sounds like the file that stores the game's achievements may have become corrupted. Deleting this file should fix the problem, but will most likely remove any in-game achievements that you've earned (these might still stick around on Steam, though).
Go to the save-game folder, depending on your OS:
Windows: c:/Users/USERNAME/Saved Games/Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchmans Mine (Steam) (Where USERNAME is the name of your Windows account)
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchmans Mine (Steam)/
Linux: ~/.local/share/ags/Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchmans Mine (Steam)/
Look for the file called act.dat and delete it from the save-games folder. Exit the game and then try launching it again. Hopefully, this should work.
