What are your Computer specs?
Also, as you mention "a bit laggy", then this is 100% normal if you are referring to random "stutters".
This will never change. It's been like it since TSW 1, and even for about a 10 years with my personal experience with their other Train Game "Train Simulator Classic".
Otherwise, the game is very resource hnugry, you need a good graphics card, enough memory and preferably an SSD for game data.
So what can you do?
- Check if your compiter meats the minimum game requirements
- Set the graphic settings lower
- Check if your grapchi card drivers are fully updated
- Check if Windows (10 or 11) is fully updated
It is unlikely but:
- Mods can cause bad behaviour
- Additinonal settings inthe engine.ini may cause problems
Due to this my vulkan shaders are pre-cached before launch therefore no hanging around processing them mid journey.
I can honestly say that I rarely get any screen stutters even on first launch just the odd one or two (Frankfurt - Fulda being worst case [ran at 32-48fps and stuttered 3 times]).
So could it be it is down to the speed of the HDD/SSD as well as the size of your RAM?
RAM his has always been a major factor in the speed of windows reaction time and slower transfer speeds from the storage medium to the memory are also a major factor in any dynamic real time simulation.
Although my CPU and GPU are average (although higher spec than suggested) my shaders are pre-cached so nothing to process on the fly, my SSD is the fastest clock speed I can purchase and my RAM is twice the suggested requirement.
I offer no solution here just put this out for discussion/thought on the subject.
Setting the graphics to low has been an improvement, but still some modules won't open and when I play them, they tend to crash sooner or later (the screensaver showing the three trains or the no trespassing warning pops up). Also, since I am not an experienced gamer, what exactly do I check on my computer in terms of meeting the requirements?
