If I am sure I have completed all steps correctly to move forward and nothing happens then I usually go ESC/Reset physics and return. It means setting up again but usually I get going. I also do Escape/Restart and that can help.
And for scenarios, make sure to follow the steps given in the order it tells you and try not to do things you are not being told to do.
And don't do the steps before you are told to do them, since this can mess up things.
And if you are still having issues, you need to create a ticket with DTG

Is it my imagination or is the breaking system on american trains lame compared to british trains?. I use the breaking section of the throttle lever on american trains and it seems to take forever to slow them down, that i end up having to use the separate red lever break instead.
Also is there a way to be able to look at the photo's other players have taken in the creation section, like you can on the Forza driving games?.
I bought the special edition, as there was a big black friday reduction on it, so i got all the DLC's that come with that. I have gone through all of the basic training modules in the training centre
The braking systems of UK and US trains are on par with each other with no one system being better than the other. They are the same but just used slightly differently.
The dynamic brake you are trying to use to stop the train actually has the same use as a retarder in trucks and is used to assist in maintaining low speed down inclines. It is actually not a brake but a back EMF on the drive motors that provides a resistance to the wheels spinning.
Unfortunately the faster you are going the less impact the dynamic brake has on slowing the train down until, eventually, it actually becomes worthless.
Stopping is always carried out by the automatic brake. We in the UK only have one or two inclines (Licky comes to mind in the Birmingham dlc) that would compare to US inclines.
Very annoying. It's VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY annoying.
I also might be a lil tipsyl

This afternoon I managed to completely get it wrong and arrived late (unscheduled emergency stop) and upset the passengers (I did get the cut scene of upset passengers) because the bus left without them. The main difference was that, after the cut scene, the scenario went to a blank screen and became completely unresponsive after that.
So now even my, usually, fully working San Bernardino raceway scenario is hit by the blank screen bug.
