game keeps starting in some strange windowed mode can't Alt-Enter and clicking on it flashes the screen black a moment before returning to the strange windowed mode that i can't click anything on because when i do it attempts to fullscreen only to drop back to windowed

C:\Users\yourname\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld5\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

backup and delete the file "GameUserSettings" and try again to start TSW 5.

Beware, this will reset ALL game settings, your profile with savegame and progress is safe and will not be affected.

That was the first thing i done , i managed to fix it by using my xbox controller and navigating the menu's with that without having to click the mouse, when it came to entering a username (it won't let you proceed without doing so i clicked and then intimidately typed a character during the black screen phase) once i done this i then continued using the controller to accept EULA and gain access to settings and changed it to true fullscreen from within there as setting fullscreen even in the config file did not solve this, just in case others face such an issue this is what fixed it for me.

Typical pile of cr*p from dovetail. Unfinished and poorly coded. I bought a 4k monitor for future upgrades. As my laptop isn't powerful enough it is displayed in 1440 res. I play all my games in 1440, and everyone EXCEPT this one is happy to use fullscreen 1440. But oh no, this game sees the 4k monitor (regardless that window has changed res to 1440) and will not let me change their default of 3840x2160 in fullscreen mode. If I change to windowed 2160x1440 it bleeds half the screen to my laptop monitor. I have tried playing about with the .ini file mentioned in an earlier thread but as I'm not sure which bits to change i can't get it to comply with the fullscreen size i want. Thank God i decided to try free on gamepass before giving them a penny of my money. Annoyingly, i never had this problem with TSW4
