Game literally unplayable?

Seemed to work the first time I played it. And now, every time I start it up, it screws with the sensitivity of my mouse from the start. It eventually crashes my PC. I tried changing the resolution and put it into windowed mode, but even then I cannot alt-tab out once I'm into the game, and it gives me severe trouble Ctrl-Alt-Deleting out. I'm bummed out because it seemed like a great game until this trouble. Is anyone else having the same issue, or are there any recommendations?
