Hellhounds are gamebreaking...
It costs almost 200G per unit hit by them to remove the cursing, its sucking away all of my money. They should not curse on hit, or else they shouldnt come back, or else their curse should be removed at the end of the battle. I hadn't even saved up enough to get rid of the first curse before more appeared and cursed 3 more of my units...

I haven't had a problem with hellhounds, but I'm playing on Normal(ie the easiest) difficulty. With that I mind I still put some time managing my party's finances and what I spend it on considering I run into the same situation as you do.

I agree. This element is frustrating. The chance if getting cursed and weakness needs to be reduced or the price at the temple reduced. I end up having to have some of my party almost constantly compromised.
I am assuming that the cleric will eventually get a spell that can remove these?

I am playing on whatever the hardest difficulty is, and I have given up trying to treat my party from curses.

Clerics get Purify Curse at level 36.

Well im level 5 so that's not much help. I doubt ill even need it at level 36. If these things do this the entire game I am using CE to freeze my gold value while I use the temple as I would consider that a bug; since I killed them. If they stop at the boss then fine it was just bad game design for the first part to have a monster with an unavoidable counter that inflicts 300 gold worth of permenant damage every hit. Yes it's 300 now.

Why do you bother with the curse? Playing on hardest difficulty too, and I only managed to defeat the hounds ONCE by sheer luck. I haven't removed the curse even once, though, because -10 evasion is completely irrelevant on any of my characters. Level 10 now, and I already see that the game's difficulty significantly waned. I steamroll through areas without worrying much about the encounters, and easily defeat bosses, curse or no.

As for the hounds, well, I just run away. They usually manage to kill off a character of mine, but that's fine, 24 hour rest solves the problem and I don't have to bother with them for like a week of game time. I'm told there's a quest that removes them from the game for good. When I complete it, that's when I'm going to remove the curse. Until then, ignoring it is a great answer.

Yeah, just ignore the curse. It doesn't affect combat much, and eventually the hounds just become pests you flick away with your pinky.

same problem here on the veteran difficulty.

right now it cost me 435g per curse!!!!!!!!!! insanity.

my cleric lvl17 could take DISPEL skill but it seem i have to wait for DISPEL CURSE at lvl 36 ugh fml :destiny:

You pretty much just have to roll around sick and cursed for a lot of the early game.
Stryker Jan 1, 2015 @ 9:40pm
Still not as bad as crit fails. Such a stupid element to this game.

The hounds are specifically designed to drain your resources, which is not the best game design. However, curses become a bit of triviality by the time you reach the mid-20's so the pain doesn't last.

The best way to deal with the hounds IMO is to keep them permanently stun/freeze-locked (one of the reasons the paladin/mage party works so effectively). Focus on the next hound to have a go and lock him down so he can't act. I've often gone through 5 fights in a row on Veteran difficulty without being cursed due to this strategy.

And the hounds have nothing on a group of venom wasps when you don't have a bard or mage. :o

Im not an ubergamer, just reached lvl21 and comfortably sitting on 40k gold. Keep going and enjoy the game, there are far worse things out there, and i think im barely midway trough it ;-)

There is no possible way to avoid them. They're just keep coming to the point it's almost annoying. I don't have a problem with gold or beating them, but I just want peacefully explore the map, yet number of random encounters alone is beyond average, adding Hellhounds changes this game into one boring grind fest and fighting mobs instead of exploring and enjoying the game. It takes almost 2 hours to clear one area, I loved the game at the beginning, but after 30 hours it's getting boring.

you can run each character out of battle manually you dont have to engage the cursed wolves and honestly if your having financial problems in the game you cant be playing well...im playing the medium difficulty(old school vet ithink) and ya my front row gets cursed usually for 500 g a cure but ive got like 20 grand in bank at level 16 characters and my cash flow is only going up as i see... ya i dont buy much either im not trying to grab every snipit of upgrades and no i dont have any mercantile master either to make cash go silly in the store....

A bit of lightning resist and hounds are a joke. The only two guys who ever should get cursed are your two front-centers. They should have enough defenses where the curse can be ignored. Or, you can just pay the gold to have them removed. As Joseph said, you must be doing something wrong if you aren't drowning in gold. Curses are one of the very few gold sinks in the game, be thanful that you have something to spend gold on, since you will end up with way more than you need anyway.
