Loot and Shops
Shops seem to either be tied to character levels or story progress in regards to their offerings which makes some sense.

Is chest/body/rubble loot the same way? Am I better off looting nothing (except books) until endgame because the items will be better then? Last attempt to play through this is snuck into the masoleum in the first town early and managed to beat the enemy with scrolls and a bit of luck but the loot didn't really feel better than what I was used to which got me wondering.

The loot is sometimes generated at opening, sometime if you came near it. But it has alway a quality barrier. The first chests e.g. ... can only have level 1, the next level 1 - 2, and so on.
Loot everything as you can, the items can help you at the moment, not later if the items are to low on quality.
At first i save and reload every chest to see if i can have different items and tried till a really good itemm appears. But the game gets boring this way and you will save and reload hundreds of times before a really good item is in it. And a few hours later the item is not worth the effort anymore.
I started new and open only once. More fun and the game gets challanging longer, because with strong items it gets to easy.

the one thing that is really needed in this game is a bank where you could store various weapons, armor, and rings. in the game your not really told that you WILL need the large % resistance's. like a ring that has a electricity resistance of 23.
