Can you change difficulty level mid game?

My fear is that if I play on normal (easy, difficulty 1, whatever it's called), the game will become too easy and not a challenge. But, if I start on Veteran, I will get hammered. So, can you start on one difficulty level, and change mid game?

Also - is Veteran mode so difficult that you basically have to make your characters perfectly? One wrong skill or leveling choice and your doomed type of exactness? Or, is Veteran level at least somewhat forgiving with leveling?

Hi, no you can't change difficulty midgame. It states that you're locked in to the difficulty level when you start a game and select difficulty. Choose wisely! I'd recommend the middle one if you've played similar types of games before.

If the game is too difficult, you can always change to a lower difficulty. But not to a higher. This was implemented during beta phase. Just go to the options menu during the game and there you can change it.

That was a good call on their part. I seriously can't beleive some games allow you to switch difficulties all over the place during a game. Why have levels in the first place if you can switch at will.

Philosophically, we agree.

Objectively speaking, some games employ that model because of modern player trends and expectations (Others do because the devs want all players to be able to experience all the content, regardless of the choices they make).

As with everything, we actively attempt to strike a good balance between settings that we hold dear in Traditional RPGs, and what today's players want from the genre.

With a little patience and willingness to learn, anyone can overcome Old-School Veteran ;)
