Lockpicking

How painful will it be to skip lockpicking? I want to try a new party without a thief and I can't really find the points for it on Gaul with all his other skills. I've done the bruce force option and it doesn't seem bad so far, but I'm still very early in the game. Getting disarm is more important right?

It's very possible to complete the game without a theif. But be prepaired to always need food. Always.

I'm playing without one and it's tricky as Gaulen is stretched pretty thin, it can be done though. Expect Gaulen to suck in combat if you do!

I used Gaulen in the front line, only skilled up Herbs and Camaflauge. Used my theif in the back row for perception/traps/locks and ranged attack (plus Shurkien).

most treasure chests are cash/spell scroll/potion rewards so if you dont care for those you can really almost skip grabbing chests until later game when you have leveled up a bit and maybe dunked a few points into gaulen lockpick or you can just say screw it to loot all together as ive only gotten 3-4 good drops out of chests and ive just finished killing the 4th prince and im level 34 across the board. ya there is lots of cash to be had so maybe just dunk like a couple points into gaulen just to have the skill and stockpile lockpicks as the expense is cheap on lockpicks and the cash is great in comparison to a few broke picks...also you can actually just back out of the minigame on the chests and if you click on the chest again it changes...it is not the same for the gears on traps however....

Yeah for lockpicking I exit out if it’s to hard, it often refreshes at half the difficulty. I actually noticed a chest will change its loot if you reload and pick it again.

For traps it’s often easier/quicker to click auto and reload if you fail.
