Febret fountain of life and purification
I threw the necklace into the well of souls and it said the temple was purified. The fountain in the beginning room is still toxic. Also, my journal didn't update with anything indicating the purification. I also still have the necklace in my inventory despite throwing it in.

You should have some entries in the Chapter The Divine Temples in the journal.
About the font, yes, it continues being toxic.

I have been trying to use the necklace and I guess I am a noob but I haven't figured out how to use it on the toxic fountain. Can anyone help?

When I threw an "incinerate air" magical item in fountain, the toxic smoke disappeared
