For those of you that haven't realized by now, this game is like a huge puzzle. Almost everything you come across is some sort of puzzle. Thus there's always a logical solution. The only things that are random are the fights, lockpicking, and the loot. Everything else is always the same.
It is so obvious once you get the answer from the old hermit, doh!
...and yep EthanHunt, I am now realising that everywhere is starting to become a puzzle. You really need to take the time to read over the hints the game gives you and look closely at your surroundings.
I'm beginning to really appreciate that challenge.
And yeah, pretty much every room, castle, map, it's all nothing but puzzles. I like it, it's challenging. Just sucks getting stuck at times and not knowing which map you should be on and which way you should be going next
But to come to Numantians defence, there is a clear hint related to this topic:
If you pay the innkeeper in Velegarn for hints and rumours, he clearly states that "the flowers in the golden woods let you fall asleep"
Thats good old fashioned rpg-alike, isn't it ? :-)
I made it through first time with trial and error. I think I found a short-cut too, because when I went through the second time knowing about the flowers, the path I took the first time skirts the edge of a patch which is clearly supposed to block off one of the gaps in the trees.
If you don't want to waist food, simply save (under a name something like "Figuring Something Out"), then explore to your hearts content, never worrying about food. After you figure out the puzzle/route, reload and go right through it, with all your food still in tact.
Yea, I managed to get through by trial and error, those flowers aren't very noticeable and I had completely forgotten about the hint the innkeeper gave.
This is not hard. Just walk slow and look for colorful flowers. If you are color blind, then I don't know what to say, this will be a difficult part of the game for sure.
Not only this but they form a veritable wall of flowers across the path. It isn't just a random flower or two there are usually a good dozen of them at least. You will not trip over one trying to skirt around it to get past besides it. There are none or they block the path. No inbetween. The comment above about the shortcut is an unknown to me.
Yeah they can be a little tricky to spot if you are unaware and yeah I still blunder off the path if I don't pay attention but that is the entire point of a 'puzzle'. It isn't meant to be easy but it isn't exactly difficult either. Not so bad on a 27" PC monitor but if it ever becomes a phone app there will be some real issues with this bit.
