The ground that is covered with flowers will make you fall asleep.

Even with this tip I'm about to give up on this game. I keep running out of food and torches trying to find a flower free path to the cottage I see. Sad. I was truly enjoying the game. Perhaps they'll make it less convoluted in the future. Or maybe it's just me. Too frustrating for now. Off to play the new Dragon Age instead. I was planning to play it after this one. I was enjoying the game that much, but again, these woods are just too frustrating. Have fun all :)

OMFG, guess what? I left these woods for later game and now my party is 22 lvl, cleared everything they could but did not get into any tower or finally cleansed any temple. Oh these flowers...

This part isn't that difficult. All it takes is either memory or writing down which direction you go. It's always the same spots that put you to sleep. So it's always going to be the same pattern to go. For example, the first time you walk in you have 3 choices to go, 2 put you to sleep, 1 works. Always go that way, next spot is 2 choices, and mostly only 2 choices thereafter. Just keep going the right way and you'll succeed. My first time through took me about 5 minutes to figure that out.

For those of you that haven't realized by now, this game is like a huge puzzle. Almost everything you come across is some sort of puzzle. Thus there's always a logical solution. The only things that are random are the fights, lockpicking, and the loot. Everything else is always the same.

It took me almost 4 hours of careful mapping, noting on the map where the spots were that teleport you back, then repeating. I took a long time as the flowers didnt stick out to me that they were causing it. I wasnt even sure if I was perhaps missing some item that would stop the teleporting so I also redid every nook and cranny that I could on that map.
It is so obvious once you get the answer from the old hermit, doh!
...and yep EthanHunt, I am now realising that everywhere is starting to become a puzzle. You really need to take the time to read over the hints the game gives you and look closely at your surroundings.
I'm beginning to really appreciate that challenge.

Well, to be honest, I honestly never even knew nor noticed the flowers. I just went each way until I figured out the ways that don't put me to sleep. I have a very visual memory so it didn't take me long to map out the correct path. But the flowers is good to know haha.

And yeah, pretty much every room, castle, map, it's all nothing but puzzles. I like it, it's challenging. Just sucks getting stuck at times and not knowing which map you should be on and which way you should be going next

I had the same problem... and shame on me, I had to spoiler myself, too ;-).

But to come to Numantians defence, there is a clear hint related to this topic:

If you pay the innkeeper in Velegarn for hints and rumours, he clearly states that "the flowers in the golden woods let you fall asleep"

Thats good old fashioned rpg-alike, isn't it ? :-)

My issue with it was that the flowers are rather difficult to see compared to their surroundings. Like they aren't visually different enough to really notice them unless you are specifically looking for them. I knew there were "triggers" on the ground, but I had assumed they were invisible.

I made it through first time with trial and error. I think I found a short-cut too, because when I went through the second time knowing about the flowers, the path I took the first time skirts the edge of a patch which is clearly supposed to block off one of the gaps in the trees.

You'll get to know what the "Sleeping Poppies" look like, then finding your way through is easy, really easy. And there's a color blind option.

If you don't want to waist food, simply save (under a name something like "Figuring Something Out"), then explore to your hearts content, never worrying about food. After you figure out the puzzle/route, reload and go right through it, with all your food still in tact.

Yea, I managed to get through by trial and error, those flowers aren't very noticeable and I had completely forgotten about the hint the innkeeper gave.

It's not just the colour however, the flowers are literally 2-3 times larger than all other flowers. They are on the same height level as harvestable goods. They are the only flowers you cannot pick up, which have stems, in the entire area.

This was a simple puzzle. When you see colorful flowers, go a different way. I messed up two times, once because it was the first time I went in there and didn't know what was going on, and the second time I accidentally moved too close to the flowers.

This is not hard. Just walk slow and look for colorful flowers. If you are color blind, then I don't know what to say, this will be a difficult part of the game for sure.

Not only this but they form a veritable wall of flowers across the path. It isn't just a random flower or two there are usually a good dozen of them at least. You will not trip over one trying to skirt around it to get past besides it. There are none or they block the path. No inbetween. The comment above about the shortcut is an unknown to me.

Yeah they can be a little tricky to spot if you are unaware and yeah I still blunder off the path if I don't pay attention but that is the entire point of a 'puzzle'. It isn't meant to be easy but it isn't exactly difficult either. Not so bad on a 27" PC monitor but if it ever becomes a phone app there will be some real issues with this bit.
