The Cart Giant Stopped Chasing?

Me and my friends have this issue with our save, well not really issue more like a blessing I hope, but the giant dude that chases behind your cart just stopped chasing us for some reason and hasn't come back. Does anyone know why?

same thing happened with me and my friend on their save, after we got past that first gate after the second merchant area and closed it behind us. I assumed itd just give us some reprieve but maybe thats whats stopping them from continuing? Ill have to try doing a run where i leave the gate open and see if he keeps following

same as above. closing the gate seems to be the thing that stops it. we can still see that shadow in the distance but it can't go passed the gate.

I believe that is the proper interaction. If you want the giant to continue chasing you, just do not close the gate. If you close the gate it locks it behind it.

Assumed it would be able to get past the gate after we went down the road a bit but it seems to be a one time thing sadly.

I'd like to debunk this. I've decided to not close the gate to see if it stops him. The giant was still appearing afterwards which made me think that the gate is the case. Well, then he still disappeared without any reason. It may be a bug :)
