Levelling up Pointers Please
Hey folks just trying to understand how best to approach this game. Do I need to grind maps over and over so that I amass more wizard levels and thus more starting mana? I see youtube videos where people start with 2 k mana whereas I am starting with 800 mana...is it just something I need to chip away at?
Thanks for any advice.

I am not sure if they are all moved here yet, but there are several guides in the Arnour Games forums that do a great job of walking you through leveling up. It depends if you want to beat the game story just, or explore everything and see how far you can go.

But yes essentially to get to higher WL it means doing "grinding" . Really though that means replaying maps with increased difficulty and battle traits to get higher experience. EP is a best score kind of thing, so when you repeat a level you only get the point differential between you previous best and your new one.

But look for the guides....way more info than you can get in here.

That's a pretty good answer, that's all I need to know. I have been increasing traits and gaining XP, I was jsut wondering about the videos I saw because their mana pool and gem selection was way more powerful than my own.

Use the battle traits to get more XP for the mssions. With high battle traits you don't need to

use battle traits. By the time you have them, I recommend using Orblets, Swarmling domination, and the one that makes the waves come faster all maxed at seven. I also use the one that makes banished enemies come back with layers of shielding. That should give you a massive multiplier on experience gain. Also, play endurance mode for every map once you beat it. That's where the big XP comes from.

Each unused skillpoint gives 7 starting mana. the difference between 2000 and 800 starting mana is less than 200 unused skillpoints. Each level gives you several skillpoints. If you try to get levels it's a snowball system. More level allow you to gain even more xp and then you have a wizard level in the thousands.

But that doesn't really matter the real question is are you having trouble completing levels? Otherwise there is no reason to farm xp except if you are into that. If you are having trouble, do you use gem bombs on the early waves? Twice as many enemies means twive as much mana, bombing a with with cheap gem means you get more mana which can help in longer maps

Better not grind too much or you may find yourself overleveled - when everything becomes too easy. Grind for moxe exp only if you feel you can't pgoress further.

Use fewer skill points. You want to be able to start most stages with a grade 5 (+-2300 mana depending on your fusion level) and upgrade as the stage goes on. Towards the end of the main story you want to be able to start with a grade 6 or 7

hello,

my first goal is unlock all skill and trait so i first focus on fast clearing field.
My fast leveling gem combo is g1 red g1 orange g1 g1 yellow g1 white all mix to a G3 that upgrade with U ( not best but cross over gem :D)

one thing i try to do is to unlcok max achievement too so in the end of the level i look at unlockable achievement so i try to unlock a max of them .

when i have 180 achivement unlock i reset them for the 120 extra skill point .

with the first level that follow i recover more skill point ( made 96 achievement in a fast run jsut after reset)

at the point where level start to be harder i make 1 or 2 level with trait to make a good xp ( enrage needed to be right done for max xp and beacon killing add nice exp and LAG!!!)

Going past 3 types of gems in one doesn't help, in fact it hinders. Losing any bonuses to specials is to big of a loss.

I just dropped all my skills and got the max mana for starting up and it was a game changer!

Once you can start stages with a grade 7 spend the leftover points on true colours, fusion and the more common gems you like to use (I did the whole story with Mana or Crit this time around)

Also since nobody mentioned it, grinding the same map for XP will only award XP for the difference from your previous best to your new best. Like you beat the map for the first time with 10000 XP. If you replay the map and only get 6500xp, you wont actually gain any XP from it since 6500<10000. Now if you replayed the map and got 25000xp. You would gain 15000 xp (25000 [from new best] - 10000 [old best] = 15000xp)

You can't really grind away at maps. You only get exp from the highest exp you've gotten on a level. So doing a level a 2nd time is only good if you can get further.
Musoyama May 11, 2015 @ 6:10pm
Good point, but I was getting better each time (using traits) so I was getting XP, I jsut wasn't advancing in the story very much. I am doing much better now!
