I recall playing a game with this name long time ago, possibly on new grounds, or some other flash game site. Is this the same, same devs? did it get upgraded a lot perhaps?

It is the fourth game in the series. You likely saw one of the other games on the ArmorGames website (or Kongregate). These games exist in the series:

There are some connections, but you don't have to play the older games in order to understand the story.

I can't believe this game is on steam. It was my favorite when I was little!
