Vision fields, as mentioned, are not affected by WL, skills or battle traits. In other words all the maps labeled as V(number) will play the same way whether you're WL1 or WL1000 and you have all skills unlocked and game beat. Whatever gems they have unlocked specifically, that's all there is for the map.
in all other fields there are only specific gems that are unlocked, while the rest can also be used when you have the component skill unlocked. This is done by finding and breaking open the corresponding tomb. There are 9 component skills to unlock;
armor tearing/purple
poison / green
slow / blue
chain hit / red
mana steal / orange
crit / yellow
heal suppression / cyan
poolbound / white
bloodbound / black
If you dont have all these unlocked, you'll find they may be missing on certain maps/battles.
