Farming is way too hard. need some help please.
Hi there.

My Wizard Lv is 255.

I found I have some trouble to progress more stage, because it's way too hard to beat.
I think My Wizard Level is too low to progress more.

So I've searched via google and found some articles to help.

http://www.kongregate.com/forums/8740-gemcraft-chasing-shadows/topics/523159-mana-trap-xp-farming

https://www.reddit.com/r/Gemcraft/comments/29b5af/step_by_step_mana_trap_farming_tutorial_for_huge/

And also watched some videos on YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjisuvjfo6I

https://youtu.be/0mmLGglBga0

and some more.

All of these articles have same points.

1. Spending Skill Points
: spend around 15 SPs to Traps, Fury, Amplifiers, Poolbound, Critical Hit, Mana Leech
So, I reset all Skills and set the same skill points
The results is...
Unspent skill points : 1,344, Initial Mana Bonus : 9,408
My TalisMan's level are between 21~31(3 Blue color, the rest are green)

2. Mana Farming
: Gem Combination with Traps - Mana Leech, Critical Hit, BloodBound

3. Enraging
: Pouring Gems to Enraging monsters as much as I can.

4. Use Traps and Ampilfier. Not Towers
: Actually, I almost use Towers, I didn't care Traps

BUT. My Problem is...

I can't even beat any stage, when I already beated stages.
Besides I can't get enough mana during playing.

Actually, these articles never help, also I think Game's difficulty got much harder.

How can I do?
Are those articles help me to keep My Wizard Level Up?

Please help me.

I am no expert but am level 365 and by going back and redoing previous levels you can level up qute a bit. I think Mana Stream, True Colors and Poolbound you want pretty high at low levels. At higher levels you switch from Poolbound to Bloodbound.

I put all traits at 7 except Mana Lock and Hatred I think it is. I will probably start using that one soon. I enrage almost all waves and usually don't setup a mana farm because my tower surrounded by 6 mana amplifiers brings in a decent amount of mana.

I usually use red, yellow, orange and white in my towers and orange or orange and yellow in the amplifiers. I went from 20,000 score up to 500,000 and into the millions on some maps by going back. Now if I go back and mana farm etc I could enrage more and further increase my score.

With 1 tower surrounded by 6 amplifiers you can hit almost anywhere on the map at higher levels and you do more than enough damage unless you go overboard on enraging and try to keep your mana pool high.

Well i myself reached already above lvl 600 and still going so i would say, enrage the wave do the endurances and repeat some of the maps. Actually if you do endurance you gain the exp regardless if you win or fail at it in the end. Don't know that part for the iron wizard though.

In Iron Wizard mode, there is no benefit to replaying levels, and you cannot play endurance mode (not that there's any way to beat endurance with the limited arsenal of IW mode).

Thanks.
As you said, I'd rather 'Tower + Amp' Combination.
I guess it's easier than Traps :)

Thanks.

After I played once with using enrage, it's very clear that I can gather more XPs.
But, Main Problem is that how many gems pouring each wave.
Now I just G1 each wave.

Is there any tips to solve this problem?(how many gems for each wave)

Thanks anyway. :)

Actually, I don't know iron wizard mode. :(

Iron wizards will be unlocked around lvl 200 and thats for the separate game account.

to level up by "farming", it is really important to enrage waves... you build a mana farm but then you need to "feed" it. that's what you do by enraging the waves.

If you hover over the Gem Bomb icon you will see a little 1 in the bottom right. With your mouse over it you can adjust the value with the mousewheel. for example if you set it to 12 then when you gem bomb a wave it will autoamatically do a x12 etc..

When you do this what is really important to get is that your kill gem is still able to kill all the monsters. So at the beginning I do recommend you go g1 one by one and check the hp of the monsters towards the damage of your kill gem.

Remember: you gain XP by killing monsters not gathering mana
The mana only helps you upgrading your killgem so you can enrage more etc...

Hope it helps.

The reddit link you listed is really good but yes, maybe not usable for you yet...

You are welcome and towers can generate crazy amount of mana with the right gems and skills but not as much as traps and you should use traps if you want to grind xp. I didn't want to be too high a level until I completed the game and I just did so I am now mana farming with traps. :)

Yeah...I see the iron wizard mode at the main menu.
Is there any profit to play the iron wizard mode?
Or 'new game +' just like other games?

I'm getting knowing how it works. Thanks.
Feed Mana(Farming) -> Getting more mana -> Enraging more monsters -> Getting more XPs.

But, I still don't know how 'The Gem Bomb Icon's number'
I've changing numbers and enraging wave, nothing happened :(

I'm trying to get to know it.

Iron Wizard is more like "New Game -". You have to go through the game with a very limited pool of skill points (5 per field completed). However, there is one Steam achievement if you can reach the Spiritforge in Iron Wizard mode, that cannot be gotten in the regular playthrough (namely, "I Have Iron Skills").

Spend a lot of points on Fusion and you will see the diference. There's no need for so much starting mana if your gems are expensive.

My Wizard level was about 200, then I tried a kind of mana farm on field E3 (I haven't got far enough to have barrage, for example). This is the first one that actually worked. I had 2 extra towers to do most of the killing since my trap killgem (purple and yellow 2 purple g1 amps) was not good enough. Similarly I had 2 trap managems (orange and blue) with 2 amps. I used bolt and beam and made 400k XP in glaring endurance (about 3 levels at once). Most of my skills were at 12, except for the True Colours and Fusion nearer 20, but obviously I don't have enough skills for the high-level farms in guides. I've played most of the game with around 3000 mana at the start of a level, and 4 gems of grade 5 at the start, so I did that. Enraged with grade2 all early waves twice and started waves early 3 at a time. Then no early waves in endurance. All of this can be massively improved but it's hard to know how to get started. I'm going to get barrage and see if I can improve with bloodbound gems.

as someone who has a decent wlvl (over 3k), I can give a little advice.
at your stage, some of the more advanced methods are unnecessary or dont work well yet.
first, skill points. true colors and mana stream are your most important skills, followed by critical hit and then several others like mana leech and amplifiers.
when you start a map, you should have enugh mana left to make a gem capable of barely killing the first wave. later on, you will surround that tower with 8 (or as many as you can) amps. killgem should be yellow-white-red (from highest to lowest proportion), while the amp gems should be yellow and a couple levels under its grade.
once your tower is ready, make a manafarm. place a trap (preferrably close to the entrance) and surround it with six amps. if necessary, reduce the range of your killgem so it only hits things behind the farm. in the farm, you use similar gems as in the tower, only orange instead of yellow.
enraging. I always do it with G1, but it depends on what you want out of it. as a rule of thumb, monster armor should be over farm damage and health plus armor should be under ten (the lower, the safer) times as high as your killgem max damage times crit multiplier, while armor alone doesnt exceed it.
for traits, always pick max orblets (makes things easier), haste (makes things faster) and corrupt banishment (if enough monsters pass to make this matter, you lost anyways). other traits make things a little harder, so test your limits first.
