How to unlock amplifier towers

I have not figured out how to unlock amplifying towers or are they even unlockable?

Keep playing, eventually you will arrive at a map that you need to do something to unlock them. Its the same for every thing in game, more gems colors, different skills etc...

You need to reach the G hextile, get the skill there, then get the skill for amplifier, requires curse. No amplifier available until about halfway through the game. Once unlocked, without any skill points in masonry, they will cost 400 mana + about 300 extra for every amplifier built.
