GCFW (Gemcraft 3) -- Release Date?
Anyone know the estimated release date?

The graphics in the screenshots I've seen look the same as GC:CS...is that right? No real improvement? Are there any graphical improvements?

Due to previous incidents, Peter no longer gives a release date until he's like 1 month away from release.

Graphics-wise, FW will have 1920x1080, higher than CS which has 1088x612. I think the improvements might not be as big as you expect though. :orblet:

Depends on what counts as an improvement.

Graphically, the only "improvement" I've seen/read about is the higher resolution. However, IMO, the major improvement is the way Enraging and Monster Counts are handled. Instead of making 100s of mobs on screen, which significantly lowers performance... the Dev is working to change it so that mobs are stronger and give better rewards instead of having 100s of units. Ergo, we should see a huge performance improvement when it comes to Endurance runs and whatnot.

Aside them that, it seems like he is playing around with the Mechanics and Balance. IMO, that's more significant/important than Graphical changes.

Thanks.

Btw, do you know roughly how many hours it takes to explore GC:CS, i.e. do all the levels?

Depending on how fast and good you'll be doing it... 6h to eternity, in case you'll somehow find yourself stuck.

6h for a speedrunning god with instant menuing, that is.[estimated for looming-only]
Took sluggish me 44h to do 96-ish percent of it before toying around without pushing further.

Don't worry, there's much to play around after beating the game, if you want, that is.

Who doesn't love achivement-hunting?

Man, I hope the new Gemcraft comes out soon

I seriously doubt anyone could do every level in 6 hours, even just on looming...

Maybe a rush through the story levels, but not every other one including secret and vision fields.

Anti-cofusioned my previous reply.
6h came from simple math of dividing speedrun time(about 1h 37min) by fraction of levels the speedrun covered(about a fourth) and flooring it.

As @Gem of Temporarity theorized; quickest time would probably be around 6 hours.(I think 10) However, IMO, an average person would take ~20 hours on Looming. ~30+ if they wanted to do Vision Fields, unlock all Fields, "fully" complete the Story etc. That's if they were to play on fastest speed from the get-go. I've seen some people play on normal speed and I underestimated how slow Waves go lol.

6 hours would be pretty fast, but a nice quest - however it'll be a bit hard to measure/compare times as there is no such mechanic in game
The clock will be faster in the next game.

Looks like this developer will be cutting out Mac users again.
Hell, at least the earlier ones anyone could play in a browser.

If you're still using Mac in today's world, that's your problem. Mac is garbage. Always has been, always will be. I don't understand why people keep falling for Apple's lies and inferior products.

Not the place to say it but I'm hoping that with modified enrage mechanics we can now have infinite endurance to replace the enraging micromanagement.
Harder base difficulties (ala Diablo 3 Torment levels) and/or more gimmick modifiers would be nice as well (mostly the latter).
