How to play multiplayer?

I'm progressing through the story but I still haven't found a way to try multiplayer.

Do you have to reach a certain point to unlock it?

After playing a few missions i can join multiplayer games now.

Which tutorial? where is it?

I've completed 2-1 and the tutorial option says "No Content"

you'll know you're done when you get taken a sort of home base. trust me, you'll know it when you see it.

Thanks, I think I got there after passing mission 2-3.

I think because it looked like a base with a lot of characters but I didn't see any multilayer mode there yet. Way too many options to what I'm used to (simple arcade games), so I didn't have more time today to see how that part work, and how one can join multiplayer and if they can choose to play with specific friends or it's random...
