With that said, what works for me is not running a lot. Unless I know an area is clear of players I will just walk, which gives me time to look and listen for targets while not giving me away. Once you know maps intimately the loss of speed isn't as bad since you can always take the most efficient routes. When playing shadow and wraith you can obviously run as much as you like since they don't get revealed. Using silenced weapons in also an option to stay hidden and there are some good ones like supernova and whisper.
Map knowledge will come with time and you will figure out the best classes to use on certain maps. You'll know obvious spots where people like to camp and avoid them, be able to take the most covered route to the other side of the map. Cheap kills can often be had by flanking the popular spots or throwing a grenade at a spawn exit where wraiths like to hang.
Don't hang around areas marked "enemy area" on your screen, it reveals you on the map no matter what. People camping in these areas are the easiest kills, don't do it unless you know you can dominate the other team.
Finally don't always do the same thing, as you noticed already results tend to vary. If you face a team of campers, whip out a grenade launcher and go rack up wraith kills. But you will just as often face a team of rushers, then don't be afraid to just turtle up near your spawn and get easy kills. There is no shame in winning even if everyone in the match calls you a dirty camper. If your team is made up of a bunch of fools and you, just accept the match loss and work on your own k/d ratio.
Bunnyhopping did not reveal you, but it make quite a noise. Enough for someone to be ready for a fight.
But when you don't feel like playing this brainless playstyle where you'll kill someone and die right next, I think Avy tips make sense. Like, slowdown your own pace a little, try switching classes/loadouts, don't rush, don't run, go and slowly conquest your territory (enemies are probably rushing into your face anyway). You might end up with a more positive K/D ratio this way.
I did this playing Sniper on Dome actually.
I don't see any possible benefit in staying in the same place anyway.
It will probably/Most likely get you killed.
Whenever I made a kill or 2 I would switch location to try and not get found out.
Which worked really well and I probably now have the highest killstreak on a Sniper.... Even though in most games I am TERRIBLE Sniper.
Ill see what I can make of this!
Most matches I at least have a 2.00KD now.
Most games KD wouldn't matter but here it surely does....
And frankly I think I like it.
