BH11 passive hurts LY production
I was excited about the BH11 passive "Light Years Time Bonus linear growth" because I was looking forward to getting to do runs longer than 3 hours (when production slowed down massively), but a 3 hour run is now only a 3x multiplier instead of a 5x multiplier. Given that it appears every hour is now an increase of +1x, this is a fairly major nerf to LY production. Pre-BH11, if, for example, I got 200k LY before the time bonus, that would mean that I would get 1M LY in 3 hours. In 24h, I could do 8 3h runs and earn a total of 8M LY (I use the perk that auto travels back in time). No matter what I do in BH11, I can't match that speed. No matter when or how many times you travel back in time, after this "perk" the best you can do with the other variables staying the same is 4.8M LY in 24h. It cuts LY production nearly in half (60% of the speed of pre-BH11).

Is there a way to turn this off so I can go back to getting better LY production, or am I now stuck with worse progression for the rest of the game (since apparently SN1 makes this passive unlock at BH0)?

The thing is, you can make armies as well. Most of BH11/BH12 could be already done in 24h runs with 750 armies converted, you have to do that in 24h runs because you don't have enough armies to convert in 3h runs (the 24h runs with armies are the most efficient setup). And for this, the linear gain is a net benefit, you get 20% more LYs in a 24h run (x24 with the linear scaling, was x20 before that).

There are two types of SN0 players:
1) Those that want to play optimally, those benefit from stronger 24 hour runs with the linear system.
2) And those that play more casual, those players didn't know or didn't care enough about 3 hour runs. They benefit from stronger mid to long duration runs (casuals don't wake up in the middle of the night to start a new 3 hour run, etc).

You clearly belong to the first type, hence the recommendation for BH11+ is to do 1-2 short runs to get your light year bonuses going (without armies), followed by full 750 army 24 hour runs till you can BH again.

This is way less stressful, and even results in a net 20% gain as Darnavir already pointed out. :steamhappy:

Keep in mind that the 24h runs with armies were the meta even before the linear in time multiplier growth.

Can't you only get like 2-3 runs maxing out armies before army production slows to a crawl and levels/upgrades become the main source of additive bonuses? And once that happens, you're back to the issue I originally brought up, since you get nearly the same amount of those from a 3 hour run as from a 24 hour run, and you'd do better without the linear growth passive.

I was expecting linear growth to be a strict upgrade, matching the growth I had before it up to 3 hours and then continuing at the same rate. It just feels bad for something that's supposed to speed up the game to instead slow it down under some circumstances. I'd prefer that, if that's the case, I'm given the option to turn off the passive for the beginning and end of the BH where it's actively harmful.

In any case, I'm only 12h into BH11, so I guess I'm just gonna load up my save before this so I don't waste my army production.

If you keep your LY bonuses up to date (from all kinds of sources like minigames etc) you won't run out of armies with 24 hour runs.

The massive bonus from armies created was already making 24 hour army runs better than 3h runs before, with the increase from x20 to x24 with the linear multiplier you are even better off, and even less likely to run out of armies.

You just have to make sure to keep army production to those 24 hour runs, especially in Bh12 you don't have much wiggle room. BH11 isn't to bad.

And everything, and i mean really everything after BH12 is much easier/faster.
A player that manages to pass into BH13 has basically already seen the worst the game has to offer, things get way smoother after that point.
