Keep every 10th room empty. 27 ppl need 30 rooms. One will feel some difference.
Have fun ...
(If that is not enough, you could leave every 7th, or every 5th room empty - for hardcore fans ;) )
Keep Melons on the first field. Then its harder to have no food shortage through the whole game.
Have 4/12 always with melons (8/12 corn and potatoes).
And keep one villager at the berries /apples.
It is a shame that ppl do not get any healthy fruit.
(and fish will get more importance).

Even harder: 6/12 or 8/12 with melons (just in case 4/12 is no challenge for you) ;)
More challenge ... (finshed with 41 villagers quite fast)
Never went for fish in earlier PT (long path), but now fish helps a lot.
Sugar and Flour in the kitchen is not of much help btw.
