How to NOT launch it in VR?
I select the non-VR option as the game starts, I even tried unplugging the breakout box.
Also, the trackpad doesn't make me move in the direction that I wish when using the vive controller. I press forward, but go sideways.

Apart from unplugging the box, look at the processes for Vive ones, if they are active the game thinks it's on VR :S

No vive processes are running. It happens anyway. The game also refuses to close and takes my steam account hostage, unless I force a system restart.

Are you gonna attempt to fix any of these issues?
It's UNPLAYABLE in VR, and I can't launch in normal 2D.

We are sorry but we are not able to do not launch in VR when the headset is connected due to a limitation of the blueprint-based projects like mind.

The trackpad moves in the direction the player is facing. Use the other trackpad to pivot to re-orient the player.
